life lesson
found a great deal on a riptide today. got off early to get it so someone else wouldn't beat me to it. talking to the guy about it and he's telling me about how he use to free line for stripers in the river, backing down real slow and catching his share. oh how this guy loved fishing until he got hurt and couldn't go. my selfish A$$ just wanted to get the address and get this thing. well when i got there, this fellow was laying flat on his back, with a nurse hovering above him. he had to have everything done for him. he couldn't even hold his smoke. well this time when he talked about fishing i heard him.......
folks if you ever hear old simpleman whinning about being old, or aches and pains,or the wind.....hit me real hard and remind me i'm still walking and fishing every week. i think this fellow would trade places with me bad knees, back, teeth and all. i hope when i take this boat out or see that trolling motor i think of this fellow who i'm sure wishes he was going after them one more time, and how lucky that i am, still able to go. if this needs to be in ot sorry....

How easy it is to forget how lucky we are!

I feel what you are sayingThumbs Up. Sometimes I amaze myself at how worked up I can get over things that don't matter. I am getting better at it as I get older I have noticed.

Very well said SIMPLEMAN. I don't have anything else to add to that.
I have seen tragic things such as this many times in my life.
Praise the Lord for each and every day of good health to enjoy the
gift of life... which is over in just a blinking of the eye.

Well, y'all just talked me in to going fishing tomorrow!
-
Yea, I'm guilty of taking life for granted too often.
-
I've been in the hospital with a kidney stone, they blasted it but I believe something is wrong, the pain level in my lower back and side is still to intense for that have gotten it all. I am about doubled over in pain.
But like Simple said, no matter how bad we ache...there is someone else hurting worse. Good point Simple

I know i am guilty of taking things for granite. We can always pray.

Once i complained that my boots was hurting my feet,Then I saw a man with no legs
-
You never really have to look too far to find someone who is a lot worse off than you are... do you??
-
What I would give to be sitting on the bank dunkin minnows, drinkin a coke and eating some crackers with my grandpa just one more time :/
-
we all do it, i used to complain about working, until i lost my leg at 28y/o..........now im 38 and sit in a wheelchair all the time but i know it could be worse, it gave me a new outlook on life. i can still do the things i enjoy it just takes a little longer. when i got my boat the first thing i did was gutted it to make it easier to get around on. might sound crazy but i love to mow the yard too so i rearranged the pedals so i still could run my mower. i have great friends and the best family but the main reason i get out of bed smiling every day is CAUSE I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't know about ya'll but i reread this every couple weeks, just to remind myself.

My wife works with sick babies; some the size of my hand, I try not to complain about anything because I have nothing to complain about

A fellow on another forum I belong to has a good tagline. It is:
"Live every day like it is your last, because one day it will be."
Good advice.Thumbs Up
