you know what I think, I think i like it.
Is there much action in the tail when you shake it?
At first glance it did not do anything for me. Without the tail and in a creamy color it would make a nice wax worm grub. As is, did the knob on the tail stop the action of the tail? I would have to see it in action Bob. Undecided now.
I like it alot.......prob one of the better "looking" ones youve came up w/Bob.....how long is it???
I will try to answer everybody first of all I do not know how much action this plastic bait has I'm assuming that it will have a lot because of the rigging it will be real flexible how soon will debate be available I do not know it will be anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks I may not have the bait available in till the end of October keep in mind that we are leaving the 13th two the 30th on a trip to China so as soon as we have the mold I will let you know thank you for your guys comments we appreciate it.
hey Bob, pic me up some molds over there, china got to be cheap and they already copy everything we like. lol
looks good Bob but becarefull, lake fork has a patent on their (swim slots). you may want to check with someone. They are a big company
the say it in the bait discription. The bait doesnt have to look the same but if its the slots they are getting the patent on then we cant reproduce any bait with the slots
- Lake Fork Tackle Live Baby Shad
I was just about to say what BM said. Their patent is on the slots. Its what sets most of their baits apart from others.
I would think that last knob? would deaden a lot of the tail action. Guess I would pass on that one, at least til more info.
Hey my friend, You and the Mrs. be very careful over in China. Have a lot of fun though. Stay safe. You might want to look into what Keith said about patent information. You do not need the hassle of someone suing you.
Actuall, the LFT website says 'patent pending', which means they have applied for a patent but have not necessarily been granted one. If you're serious about this bait, look into their patent and read it to see exactly what they're seeking protection on. I find it hard to believe that noone has ever done similar 'slots' before, and if it has been done before then their patent (even if granted) would not hold up in court. My 2 cents.
There's a big difference between the lake fork slots and this bait. There's already several baits out there using a series of balls on a rounded shank with a single ball on the end. This is slightly different, but doesn't look anything like the flat slots that Lake Fork uses in their swim baits. I wouldn't worry. At worst, they'll send you a letter asking you to stop, before they do anything else.
As to the bait, Jeep's question of how long matters. Also, the softness of the plastic will really affect the action. If it's soft enough, it'll have action, and if it's retreived like a swimbait, the ball will add to the action as the water moves past it.
I'd like to try it and see.
I really don't have any comments .
you would be surprised at what is granted. Its easy to sit back and say go for it, but its different when its your money on the line. They will get the patent, doesnt matter if others have used it in the past if they didnt protect it. Its all boils down to who has the deeper pockets.LFT has the legal staff to do it and the money to back it. Even if they are wrong could you pay the 20-100,000 legal bills to fight it even if you win its years in court and not worth it in the end. I am not telling him not to do it but only saying he better check in to it before investing money thats hard enough to come by these days only to be shut down with out anything to show for it. FYI blakemore didnt invent the road runner but they were the first to protect the design so the own it now.
This board is about making your own plastic baits not about anyones business. This board is not for anyone to use just to sale a bait but for everyone to share information about how to DO IT YOURSELF. I am closing this thread.
