Starting to find the reds here but the greys havent shown up yet.Another week or so and there could be nothin finer than spawning crappie,fresh shrooms,and gobblin turkeys.:D Dang but my mouth is waterin just thinkin about it.
You guys are killing me. I absolutely love those little buggers. Unfortunately, they can't be found here in central Texas. Being from eastern Missouri, I grew up picking mushrooms. My dad is probably out looking right now. When my mom cleans them, she breads them in flour and freezes them so they are ready for the grease. Hope she saves me some.

Just hearing about morels makes my mouth water. When I lived in michigan we ate them all the time. Now living in South Carolina I only dream of them on my dinner plate.

Tim, I am on the Ind/Mich. state line. They are finding more sooner this year. It cooled down tonite, but they are startin.

I always breaded mine in egg and cracker crumbs. Mmmm. All the places I picked morels thirty years ago are off limits now, thanks to "progress". - Roberta

In Virginia, Halifax county, most people refer to Morels as
Hickory Chickens. Whatever you call them they are good.

I'm not sure where your from on the state lines but i'm around the Ft Wayne area and we are not even close to finding any yet. About two more weeks before they'll even start. But good luck to ya this is gonna be a bumper crop year. Isn't great to be an American. Bless you all!!
Good luck to all here in my area they should be up in just a couple of weeks.... There is nothing like morels and crappie in a frying pan!!!
