crappie camp spring 2012.

at the fall camp on nimrod a few weeks back the cdc members in attandance agreed to have the spring 2012 at lake chicot in so.east ar. i volunteerd to get the ball rolling and help organize it. i understand that it is 6 mo.away, but that time of year every thing on lake chicot get booked and all campgrounds are full with all the great fishin holes in that area so we need to put some thinks in stone like dates. i have 3 dates to vote on. march 24th --- march 31st or april 7th any of the 3 dates should be great fishin. so pick a date , and i will go on with plans. more on the ideas and plans after a date is decided.

March 24th gets my vote.

Either of the March dates is good. April 7th is Easter weekend.

The 31st is good. My business is crazy good then so the later the better.

Don't think Easter weekend would work, but either of the March dates is good with me. Good idea to pick the date this far out, Jerry, so people can maybe plan around this weekend and have a great turnout.

Might be a good idea to let people know what campgrounds are down there so they can contact early and reserve a campsite. I know when I go through there on the way to Florida, there's a big campground on the right on the highway, and I have been to a state park on the other side of the lake. Would we have it at the State Park, reckon?

I would vote on the 24th, only because the end of month gets hectic. Jerry should know best time, so I'm in either way.

i will count votes thur next week,i will then call or go down and see if they all have pavillons, fish cleaning place, boat ramps ect!!!! their are several camp grounds and motels there. ski, the one your are talking about is called the pecan grove thats the one iam looking at because its centrally located on the lake . i am also going to collect some door prizes so ask in your local area for some if you dont mind!!! more on the plans next week.

Iff'n yer plannin' on a "scramble", Pecan Grove would be best 'cause of it's central location to the many lakes and bayous 'round here. State and County parks are kinda/sorta out-o-the-way. I think there's an inside and outside pavillion there. Overnight, weekly and monthly rates. Many (relatively) local crappie fishermen camp there for several months in the spring and fall. Cecil said he gave you the camp phone number. Didja ever call 'em?

Ol' Man River and "Ides of March" are a crapshoot but the earlier the better for larger fish. 24th is the earliest choice.

the date and locatation has been set for the spring crappie camp 2012, the date is march 31st at lake chicot in lake village at the pecan grove camp ground . we are planing a grill & meet on friday evening not sure of menu yet we are working on it though we are planning a big mamma tournament ( biggest fish) for saturday with door prizes and a fish fry saturday evening. since there is great fishin in this area we will have a scramble (fish any were you want) just be back at camp ground at set time (to be determined) the camp ground # 870-265-3005 you need to make your reservations soon as possible because every thing their gets full. be sure to tell them its for c.cspring camp. make plans to be there we will have a great time, more later. if you want to help just send me a pm, thanks

Meatgetter asked me to start a thread for folks to sign up for the Crappie.com Spring Crappie Camp to be held at the Pecan Grove Grove RV Park in Lake Village, Arkansas on Saturday, March 31st, 2012. A "Meet and Greet" is planned for Friday afternoon-evening and if enough can make it, we'll grill something, menu to be planned later. On Saturday there will be a "Big Mama" tournament (biggest fish) with weigh-in at the campgrounds, time to be announced. This will be a "scramble" (fish anywhere you want) since there are so many good places to fish in the area. After the weigh-in Saturday, there will be a fish fry at the pavilion that evening with a drawing for door prizes afterwards. The telephone number for the campgrounds is 870-265-3005 and Meatgetter suggests making reservations early as lots of fishermen camp there during the spring due to good fishing. Tell them you are part of the Crappie.com group. Motels in Lake Village are: Ramada Inn (870-265-4545), Lake Shore Motel (870 265-2238), Southern Inn (870-265-2277), and Budget Inn (870-265-5341), all located on Hwy. 65/82 in Lake Village. If you plan to attend, please add your name to the list below. I've already listed those who have told Meatgetter they definitely plan to attend. If I missed any, just add your name to the list. Hope we have a great turnout for this event which I hope becomes a semi-annual event. More details will be published as we get closer to the time.
