That life belt tells the whole story.
That's pretty cool, would like to see it sometime.
Was there a marina at Grenada Landing at one time ? That's an interesting picture.
First pic I have ever seen of it but had heard about it, we actually had one of the old rental boat that they use to rent from down there.
Looks like the pressure was on back then, like today. I guess these guys complaining about fishing pressure just weren't aware.
50-100 fish limits and no pole restrictions, no length limit, or number of baits per pole either. The good ole days for the guys that fished it!!!! World Record at Enid---1957!!!
I don't remember the boat shed's on the water but can remember when they still had floating gas pump's.
You have brought back some memories for me from when I lived there in the early 70s... I bet I have one of those if I could find it. Many good times and memories from those days...
It hasn't been that long that they removed the boat sheds behind the pavilion. I remember them. Nothing else.
Holic, those look to be on the water not the sheds that were taken down a couple of years ago, look at where the ramp is.
I remember the floating gas dock, but not the sheds. At one point, there was a bait shop, boat storage, a hotel, restaurant and a ski jump in front of the beach area too. It was quite the destination back then.

Now you mention it, I remember the motel. The state owned it and the game wardens lived there.
I have been gone from there a long time, gonna have to look for old stuff I may still have that will jog my cobwebs...
I remember the sheds and the gas pumps. My dad would *))(& when we would pull the ski boat up and pay .05 more for gas than it was in town. I think it was like 35 or 40 cents a gallon.
Rees, I see now. What happened to everything? I bet Vic can tell you.
I dont know, got a little time on my hands with the rain, think I am gonna go down to the visitor's center and see if they have some more pics of it and maybe find out what happened. My father-in-law fished it from day one but I dont remember him saying anything about the boat sheds on the water. Wish he were still with us to ask, RIP ole man.
how about these from back then?Attachment 69986Attachment 69987
Where were those taken?
First one is at the landing, second is Hugh White State Park
Is there a marina on the lake now?
Naw, the locals just call the main landing the marina
There Geezer maps fosho, got one for Sardis to.
I'll post more Pics tonight.
The landing by the dam is call North End and yes folks were using it this past weekend. What I call the marina is on the Southside of the lake like your going back to town from the Dam. Sign there for the ramp, swimming beach and all that, two coves around from the dam if you count the coves at the emergency spillway.
The only beach I remember from the early 70s was on the Hugh White side, which was across and more out on the main lake with a float-rope close to the deeper water.
The first pic appears to me to be from Grenada Landing road looking North to the beach. That would have been the first rendition of the hotel - the structure furthest away and the closer building is the restaurant.
Agree that the second pic is Hugh White or the launch over by what is now the cabins.

Neat stuff.
Middle pic shows the ski jump I was talking about. Can you imagine the lawsuits if that thang was still around? They also used to have boat races every weekend out there. Heard tales of 14' Hydrostreams with bored out 2 strokes pushing insane speeds out there.

I went by the visitor's center a little while ago to see if they might have some of this kinda stuff down there and the girl had no clue what I was talking about. Showed her a pic on my phone and she said they had nothing that old that she knew of.
Cool stuff!!!
That is cool. Who was it that posted the Barnett pictures several months ago?
But ain't she pretty?
