Louisville District Daily Lake Report
It looks like its only up one tenth of a foot so you should be fine id say. Good luck let us know what it looks like.
Water looked great stained. Caught 100 + alot of dinks kept 30 or 35 from 9" to 15" fished from 6:30 to 3:30 first time I have been to cave run since last October. Most of the fish was in older brush piles bout 23 fow catching them 12' to 15'. Eyeslabber said they were a little deeper the last couple of reports I read of his cooler weather they are moving up a little. I put in at the tunnel.
I'll post some pics tomorrow got the fish on Ice easier to clean.
Good job grizz, what ramp you callin the tunnel btw
Good job Grizz! Hoping to make it Cave Run Sunday night or Monday. Looking forward to good fishing for a couple of days. Minnows?
It's not really a Boat ramp. You know where the primitive camp ground is by Poppin' Rock I used the boat ramp there its just gravel and dirt. And yes downwind don't forget ur minnows I had just 3 minnows left out of 10 dozen.
Good deal grizz i was thinking you were meaning clay lick or there around poppin rock. Trying to go in the morning on the main lake. Up river sounds tempting but dont know if it will muddy up sounds like its in great shape now. Were you catching mainly white crappie? Lots of small ones sounds good for future.
Mostly whites with a few blacks here and there the biggest one measured 15 1/3" and it was a black 8 more 14" to 14 3/4" all whites the rest of them measured 9" to 12", Yea its looking good the next few years for cave run with all the short fish being caught. I wish they would put a 9" or 10" size limit on crappie at cave run it would be tremendous for the crappie population. I c ppl all the time keeping crappie 6, 7, and 8 inches. A guy seen us yesterday from a distance pulling the left and right good 10 to 12 inch crappie from a hole he just had left and pulled up about 15ft from us to c how we were fishing which I don't mind if i can help someone I will but the we must have caught the good ones out and started catching 7 and 8 inch crappie and were throwing them back and he told us there was no size limit and there aint no way he would throw them back.
What area of the lake were you fishing? mainlake, creekarm, points, river??
Pattern on how you were catching them, jigs, minnows, suspended, deep, shallow?
I am wanting to get down there and give it a try. PM if you want.
Thanks,
Bassky
Friend and i went this morning and had 28 keepers mostly black crappie. Not as good as it was before the cold snap but few nice 12-13 inch fish mixed in. Caught em on minnows and jigs evenly in 25 ft or so of water. Put in at warix main lake was clear and 71-74 degrees in most places. Had a musky but no white bass. Great weather though cant complain.
