Wild Fires in Texas
All: I just got a message from a friend that is also a friend of Flatfish. ( Robert at Crazy Angler). They had a wild fire that got some of his out buildings. It took down all of the power lines over a large area. So guess that we will not hear from him for a while on the computer.
It is my understanding that it only got the out buildings behind his house. His shop and tackle store is in front of the house. It is a large metal building and would be hard to catch on fire. His cell phone is still operational but don't know if he has a generator that will keep that charged or not. My friend ask if he needed any help and he said he had more than enough help at present. That is the Texas way!!!
Lets keep Robert in our thoughts and prayers during this time of crisis. BTW there are wild fires all over this part of Texas. Another one could pop up any time. 5 with in 15 miles of this location. All on other side of the lake from us.

Yes there are fires all over the state and have even evacuated Bastrop which is not a tiny town. I mean it's not Houston either, but they got the whole town out.
May God Bless them all that are near the fires.

We just are not use to this, but this drought has been so bad everything is way too dry and even just a BBQ has caused some of these fires. Such a shame.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. I am sure that Robert will appreciate it when he gets back on line.
A up date from our part of Texas which is about 40 miles from Robert. Part of the town of Karnack second nearest town to us, Was under emergency evacuation order. Fire was two miles from there and moving fast. The forest service got it turned and people got to go back home this morning. A small 30 acre fire was rekindled 6 miles South-West of us and the locals got out the tractors and a old bulldozer to get it under control. Its my understating that it is contained and 99% out. The fires on the North end of the lake are 95% contained. Very little smoke can be seen from our location. Much improved from yesterday at this time. The air is still hazy from this fires and there is the smell of wood smoke less that yesterday. In fact it smells like a giant BBQ took place. The newest maps show a new fire about two miles south of I-20. about at the west edge of Shreveport. Family and the Family business is on the south side of I-20 at the eight mile marker. To close for comfort!!!!

Lots of fires from up where Redman lives all the way down to Nacogdoches which is West of me about 60 miles and a tad North. They are still calling for some to evacuate and some can go back home to hopefully it's not burned down. I have heard around Bastrop there has been 1000 homes burned down. I know there are other parts of Texas that have fires too.
Thanks for the well wishes,

Yellowjacket To my knowledge Yes!!! You might have to wait a day as he is busy trying to get his damage cleaned up. Yes there are a lot of us that need material. Right now if you have a few extra bucks it might be a good idea to spend them with Robert (Crazy Angler). I know that I have a big order that I will be sending him. At a time like this he can use a few extra $$$.

That is a great idea Redman, we all know anything extra really helps a lot in hard times. I'll also be sending him an order next week.

You guys down there in TX take care of yourselves, sounds like your surrounded with kindling. I just hope they don't suck up all your water to fight them fires. I've never prayed for any kind of a tropical system but you guys need one for sure! Take care and I hope the power stays on!
