Trolling rod holder help...

What is the best for the money and ease rod holder i can buy. Im using a "T" bar set-up on the front of boat made out of round tubing. "PROBLEM" im having - getting my pole out and up quick enough on those hard to catch buggers.....Im just getting started on this trolling bizz but im learning fast. Most all the time i single pole tight line with good success. Just wanna know that i have this option when i think they may have moved out to middle later in the morning and i need to be better at it. FYI i learn by failure thats for sure.....Thank you for all who reply and keep those coolers full!

For spider-rigging you can't beat Hi-Tek

Hey cooler - I use tite lok I think they call them black widow. I have 1 in front and 2 in the back. Its one of those things if you had a chance to fish with different ones before you decided it would be nice.

What type of T-Bar do you have? If the OD is 7/8", I can get you the gunslinger by Driftmaster. That's the one Capps & Coleman designed and use.

Never used the hi-teks but everyone says they're good. I use Driftmasters on the front and home brew on the back that are patterned after the tite-loks. I like them both.

Hanen't own a lawn mower since I moved to Greers, round-up is all I use.

Here is my two cents for what it's worth. I have a set of Hi-Teks and I also fish with a buddy that runs a set of Tite-Locks and I can honestly say that the Hi-Teks are easier for me to get out of the holders for a hook set or snag. Everyone loves whatever brand they run usually so if you have a chance to fish with other people that run these holders that would be the best way to determine what's best for you. The proper installation/height positioning is also crucial to their effectiveness. I like mine setting about knee high and about 6 inches from my knees so when I get a bite I can easily pick up the pole. If you have to reach over your holders or bend over to get them you will have problems with hook sets.

I'm with you on this one. Mine are set really similar and work great for me. When I take people with me the first thing I demonstrate is how to pick up the rod out of the holder. One hand in front of the reel straight up and out she comes and you've got the hook set done.

Thanks for all the great info. Im starting to get the picture of what im doing wrong, and what i have set up wrong in the boat. Like i said before i usually pole tight line, but im really starting to see the advantage on this trolling bizz. I have a good friend that just notified me he has the hi tek set up on his boat to come check it all out. Guess i will have to run him down soon. FYI ( my original trolling "t" bar set up and holders where home made )! Prob my first mistake just wanted to get in cheap to see if it would work for me. Well it has a little, but i have alot to do to get this right if im gonna go (all in)! Thanks again guys very helpful as always. Do your best to keep them coolers full......

Good luck with which ever setup you decide on. They all do a good job. The Hi Teks are the least expensive, but I use the Tite Lok. IMO they work better for BOTH spider riggin AND side pullin cranks up front. I also have the driftmasters for pullin cranks from the sides. To each their own. I like em all. I'm working on a custom rack for the rear, and will use driftmasters on it, but I have an extra set of Tite Lok bases back there also.

PS. I sell all three of these brands.

I really like my Hiteks! It's very easy to set the hook on a bite with them.

Thanks I had Scott (Hi Tek) make me the mount for the fish finder to have it up at eye level with my pole tips. It has really worked out good and I have really been pleased with my Hi Teks!!
