Anyone know a good source for a lot of pink deer hair? I have some patterns I want to tie and need a bunch to spin. All I can find is little 2"x2" or 2.5"x2.5" square pieces and I will likely go through a dozen of them before I get spinning right.

Angler's Workshops has it, also some of the guys on ebay carries it.
Some of the biggest deer tails I've seen came from:
Bucktail Hot/Pink

If you don't find what you need by this weekend let me know and I can get or tell you where to get some that is , but I would need to make a order big enough to order from this place and that I think $75 or something like that. they have 2 1/2 X 12 1/2" or even some by the sq. foot? Or even by the pound.
I am pretty sure they have hot pink, not sure about other shades.
PM me if you want to do something with me. I am out of here for tonight though.

Not bucktail, I need the actual belly hair. Bucktail doesn't spin very well, it works but it is hard to keep from cutting it off.
I think my cousin got a pink one last year, had to make sure that it had enough points under it's foofy hat. He had a hard time keeping the things tutu from getting too bloody. Rofl
Even if I can just get a nice big patch of plain I can bleech it and then dye it I guess. Dying it is easy but never bleeched deer hair. Guess my cousin should have asked that pink deer for pointers before quartering it. Doh
Deer season starts in a month or so. Find a butcher shop that process deer and you can have all you want... usually for FREE!

Here is the hair that Anglers Workshop carries. They don't have pink but if you are going to dye it maybe the bleached of natural will help you. Not a bad price for a big strip.

If you're talking spinning deer hair then the man to talk to is Chris Helm he has some 3"x 12" strips but I don't see hot pink. Here's his website
Whitetail Fly Tieing - Chris Helm or email him and he might be able to give you a better price.
As to other options you could get a hugh piece from hideandfur.com - Moscow Hide and Fur you could email and tell them exactly what you're looking for then dye it yourself.
Awesome info guys, thank you. I plan to try and get some really big chunks for dying later. Need to get some quick for my season opener though. Hopefully this will all be worth it and my main target, Coho Salmon will hit a top water fly for me. If not I know some trout and crappie that better run and hide next spring.
I guess bucktail might work, just might have to add a strip of foam to make it float high. Might be the best choice since there is so much more there than you get form the small patches.
Well I have tried 3 times to die my own and it failed terribly, pink was easy but getting anyhting with any real zip to it failed badly. Light pink and pastel pink was the best I could do. Guess I will be buying some soon.
b.p.s. has them
Looks like I may just wait for family and friends to start deer hunting so I have plentyt to practice with before trying to do anything major. Still can't dye them but I have a lead on some dyes that might do the trick. I think bleeching them willhelp a lot but have not found out how to do that yet so lots to learn before trying to get a neon or hot any color.
