Talking to folks on other boards you'll see the trend, someone says many all the saddles in my area are gone and someone else going hasn't started here yet but it seems the saddles are in low supply. Week later they're saying well it's happened.

And this isn't just in the states. Have a friend stationed in Germany and it's going on over there too.

Even Whiting says they are in low supply. Just saw a saddle on ebay and bidding is right now at $770. It's a breeder generic one.

I just called barlows, just now and was going to order some saddle patches and saltwater rooster neck feathers and was told, WE WILL NOT HAVE ANY OF THESE TILL NEXT YR!! man it is bad..

No Surprise here. I have a bunch of saddles and capes as well as full rooster skins so I don't have a problem, but I made sure to add to my supplies over a year ago when I warned everyone here. I still have some capes on back order that I will get this year. I just got about 5 or 6 METZ high grade capes.

Also just got some Coq De Leon Capes both rooster and hens.

I see also where the price of schlappen feathers are up also. Guess the steelhead guys better gettem now.

Just order a bunch. If the economy goes South it won't be just feather. Hooks, thread, Powdered Paint, Lead. I have run a complete inventory so I know what I have. Also organized every thing. Put all like item in zip loc bags and labeled them. Don't forget to add a few moth balls or crystals in the storage drawers with the feathers and hair. With the price of feathers and some of the hair the moth balls are a good insurance policy.

Another good thing to use is Cedar chips like from dog bedding or maybe even mulch? Have not down this yet, but a friend told me that is what he does, the doggy Bedding Cedar chips and I am going to do that too.

Skip Great Idea!!! I like the idea of cedar. Moth balls have Naphtha gas and could make you sick in a confined space. Cedar has a natural chemical that repels insects. If you ever walked into a Large Cigar Humidor in a Cigar Store that is Cedar not tobacco that you smell. They use cedar planks for shelving for two reasons. One Tobacco ages better on cedar and two it keeps away insects. It use to be all cigar boxes had cedar bottoms not so any more but there are several high end cigars that are sold in cedar boxes. Think that you can buy cedar chip in the same section as Moth balls at Wally world.
