Never fished Butla, but plan to go next weekend. Anybody have any suggestions on a good boat ramp, and a bait store that sells minners? Also where is everyone stayin' when we have the FJ at Butla?

Hernando Point is good spot and the store where you turn off of Hwy 51 to get minnows.

Where you coming from Spiderwoman? Hernando Point turn off is 3 miles north of Coldwater up 51 and 5 or so miles south of Hernando on 51.
We're coming from the south near Batesville.
The best bait-shop is Outfitters in Eudora. The citgo in Hernando is also good. Both should have #6 and #8 minners. Sometimes the bigger fish like the bigger minnows at butla.
I've never known the store at that turn to have minners, but haven't checked there in years. The beer store on the opposite side of 51 has them, but is never open early enough. That being said, JR's on Hwy51 in hernando is your best bet.Quote:

Good motel is the Super 8, not the fanciest but clean and they let us park our boats in the grass on the back side and we can plug chargers in too. Phone # is 662-429-5334, make sure to ask for a room on the back side.
SW, since you are coming from Batesville, leave about 30 minutes early and go by the Dam Store at Sardis. Their minners are $1.75 doz and they 6's & 8's. I plan on doing that when I come up there from Jackson. They DON'T count them, they dip them.

I use to go to JRs/Tadpoles all the time but they got real stingy with their minnows (poor count) about three weeks ago. I've been going to Outfitter's since then and getting plenty of minnows for the money. Has JRs/Tadpoles started back giving a decent count on minnows again?Quote:
