Len-Great looking Christmas in July Jigs . . . red, green and yellar has been one of my favorites for many moons, was one of my first ties. Jig spin should collect lot of spieces. Your work is always good lookin.
I am the one who named it that I think as I just started calling it that. It came from the original marabou roadrunner color I have used since the mid 1970's and it's FL Red (Flake Red)/Kelly Green/FL Yellow tail.

they look good
I remember fishing with my dad and using what was called a christmas jig back then it had a lot of silver tinsel and was red, green and silver.Thats been 30 years ago.Man im getting old.
The head is very close to blaze orange. IMO, it's not the exact colors, but the contrast between them that makes it so effective.
Beautiful work, Len. Just hold on to the pole!
Those look good.
Over the years I have caught a lot of crappie with that color. The Blaze Orange is or should be close enough. Heck lots of time when painting I make sure to keep the Orange away from my FL. Red so I don't have to sort them later.

They look great Len! Is that a color you mixed?
Guess all great minds think together. I have been tying up jigs for the fall fishing season since it is SOOOOOOO HOT here in deep east Texas. This little jig is one that I tied 30 of in three different sizes. I did some as Skip does and then I went wild and started to use dyed yellow opossum as a tail material on the 1/24 oz. They look good can't wait to try them out.
Berkley had a plastic power bait that they called Christmas tree lights. it was of the same colors as the jig we are tying only in a twister tail. Have used a lot of that bait in the past.
Redman
No that is actually Blaze Orange by Protec.I just finished mixing some Traffic Red and Pure Orange powder and the results are not bad for maybe a color of "Flame Red".Will post pics of 2-jigs tomorrow.Just finished the 2 jigs with the blend.
The head in the middle is Blaze Orange and the top and bottom jigs are the blended powder.

Nice jigs Len, I'm partial to the blaze orange as well.
Very nice Len! That has been a time tested classic crappie color combo for as long as I can remember.
Thanks for sharing,
