Not sure where it is but that sure is bad news.
There was one in Marshall county today around Watson. Haven't heard of one in Panola county.
Panola county would be Sardis. The story I read said a guy and girl was out in the lake last night. He was trying to teach her to swim. She had on a life vest, he didn't. She last saw him swimming for the boat. She floated in the lake all night until being rescued.
I was there last night and today till noon and didn't see a thing.
The lady in the story came ashore at my neighbor"s house about 6:30 tues. morning.She was pretty upset and disoriented.

I read where the guy from Marshall County was found but no word on the fellow that drown at Sardis. Any word?
I just read in the Memphis Commercial Appeal that they found his body floating in the Lafayette portion of the lake yesterday. They are sending the body for an autopsy.

This is sad, dont understand being in the water at night just dont seem too brite and it has proven not to be.
And he was giving her swimming lessons. Some people just don't use the brain God gave them. I hate it for his family and for the girlfriend.
when we used to ski all the time no one got out of my boat without a life jacket on unless the boat was beached, period. Water dont play and as a fairly good swimmer I have had to help several folks on the white river that had gotten in trouble in that cold water. Just aint smart and I aint wading in the ocean either, too many folks getting bit by sharks!!
Read the comment at the end of this article. The guys daughter is suspicious of the girl friend, and doesn't seem to know who she was. Sorry for they're loss!!!!Quote:

Sounds like the daughter is out vengence.
Gonna be interesting to hear outcome of this one... Wonder where he and the boat were found in relation to where she washed ashore

There's a article in the CL today about the drowning. They gave his name and age and a few details. He was 47 years old. I guess we need to make the life jacket mandatory for ALL crappie tournaments. As long as you are running, it's that hot.

Man's body found in lake
The body of a Memphis man has been recovered from Sardis Lake in Panola County.
Sheriff Otis Griffin said an autopsy has been ordered for Gaddy Steven Thomas, 47, whose body deputies found floating in the Lafayette County section of the lake about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Griffin said it appears Thomas was in the lake Monday evening with an unidentified female friend. The pair started out in a boat, but the boat got away during a swimming lesson and the man swam after it and disappeared.
The friend was wearing a life jacket and floated overnight in the lake until she was rescued Tuesday
Did anybody hear where the girl came out and where did they find the truck and trailer?
