Hi,
I would think it would work...Just use a dishpan add concrete and the siding...
I am not sure if there is anything on the vinyl siding that would harm the water?
Jeremy
Am no "expert' but think might be getter off using a slightly deeper container like a 5 gallon bucket. Also, would be inclined to stack up 5-8 pieces and get them all aligned on 1 end and drill a hole and put a loop of wire lossely thru them then add the cement. Just a thought...
My thoughts are to take about eight, six foot pieces and lay them in a stack. Then run a dry wall nail through them and into a piece of 2x4 on the other side, but leave it loose. I'd sit them in a bucket, fan them out, and pour concrete into the bucket. It should make an umbrella like shape (I hope)
Are we building structure? Some of our ideas are dangerous to the enviroment. Vinyl and the likes are for ever??
then what about all the pvc fish attractors that have been sunk? many homes have pve pipes and people drink water through them. use it anf forget it but don't forget where you put it.
There is a company called Fishings that make fish structures out of vinyl siding and so far they haven't had any problems.
Attachment 66206Vinyl siding is PVC and is accepted readily in the aquatic industry. We put extensive research into this question, before getting our patent to produce our artificial fish habitat products.
After two years of installing our products in 46 different states, we have had ZERO complaints/problems. I'm glad you guys are seeing the possibilities that siding scrap has to offer. You will learn that it is a durable, dependable material that grows algae faster than most other products, including wood. The learning curve is large, with numerous steps being taken to insure crib stays upright, snag free and open. Experiment with different widths and heights, but remember the vinyl is heavy and sinks on its own, making it easy to lay over. The height is directly affected by the diameter of the base, more than the weight.
Remember, we have this idea patented so if you are going to try to sell them, I'll have to come down and steal all your fishing gear! We are all about improving habitat throughout our nation for the FISH! I'm glad the idea is being so well accepted and more structure is being put in our lakes all the time, now more than ever. Put this unwanted material in the lakes for the fish, instead of our landfills.
The industry is moving rapidly towards artificial products that won't rot away. Don't feel this material is harming our fisheries in any way, it's not. Make sure you fasten all components properly so nothing falls off loose into the lake, creating debris.

I like the picture, I like the idea, I like it all.... Been looking for something I could load a lot of in the boat and take up a lot of room on the bottom. Idea is being used my friend, Thank you
Cool, they are easy to put 30-50 in a 16' boat and open, toss one at a time, alone if you need to. No more wrestling with pallets and cinder blocks for me! Glad you like the idea, get em' in for the fall bite!!
Think I will my friend, there was a whole dumpster full of them the other day... Dumpster diving here I go.
Good deal, send the pics and let us know how it goes.
Send over the pics!
