Good day on the water w/kids - Pics

David (Blue Thunder) and I took his daughter (Lilly) and my grandson (Atticus) to a local pothole off the AR River for some Crappie action. It was a blast watching the kids and catching fish. We shut down at 12:00 noon with 54 nice slabs and 2 nice catfish. They were deep ..... never saw a fish on the 997 but the first ones we caught had mud on their belly. We untied the jigs and got set up for one of our absolute favorite and most deadly techniques......bouncing 1/8 oz roadrunners off the bottom at .7 to 1 mph. After zeroing in on the right color Bobby Garlands we started getting doubles and triples fairly regularly pushing with 8 rods in front. The action was hot and there were a few times when we both needed an extra set of arms. Just a really good day on the water and you can tell from the pics the kids had a blast. Atticus helped me clean our part and he did a good job learning how to cut out the ribcage on the filets.

Man Ohhhhh MAN WTG!!! Very nice catch and with the Grand Kids too, surely a day to remember. I would be getting back to that place as soon as possible. LOL

Thanks a lot everybody for the great comments! The kids having fun and learning these skills that can't be taught in school or anywhere else in today's world is our most important goal. We don't want going to school to get in the way of their education!!! They are crazy about anything that involves the outdoors and we think that is how it ought to be. Maybe they will take us fishing some day when we are too old to drive!

You need to change the name of that lake from pothole to "Honeyhole".Thumbs Up
