It's more of a bass boat than crappie rig.
Are the Tracker decks made of all aluminum now like the Lowe? If not they will rot out.
All depends on how well you store and take care of them.
I have a 97 and it hasnt rotted yet.
That's cool Mr Jim. When I bought my boat the dealer sold both Trackers and Lowes and that was one of the things he pointed out that he had seen first hand. But of course his dumb self left the boats sitting outside in the weather until they sold. I made sure mine came out of storage.
Welp, he is the proud owner of a 2011 Pro 175txw, it is a nice boat and its what he wanted so daddy couldnt and didnt tell him what he should do, I certainly hope he hasnt made a mistake but I do know that I learned from my mistakes
thanks for the input guys
Can't go wrong with a fishing boat. Contrats to him and good fishin!!
Is the 60 an efi 4 stroke?
Good for him Larry, he'll love it.
I've had boats since I was 16 years old...so that's dang near 40 years. I've only bought 2 new boats in my life and wound up taking a beating when I decided that that boat wasnt the one to fit my "every need" anymore.:o Good luck to your son with his new boat. I know he's proud of it as he should be.:p You guys need to get it on the water and slime it up some.;):D
I have a 04 tracker PT 175 w/ a 60 merc 2stroke I bought new. The only option besides the bigger motor was a DF on the front. They are a good boat imo, I don't bass fish much (1%), usually troll for crappie with the 43lb TM, which does a good job for me. I keep mine in an enclosed garage so my flooring is still in excellent shape, no weak spots, etc., The only difference I see from the new txw and my 04 is the front deck goes from the console to the bow where as mine there is a 12-18" space between the front deck and console where my cooler fits perfect (mine came with a cooler). My boat will run close to 32 per gps, is EASY on the gas, easy to unload and load going solo 99% of the time like I do, my Ford Sport Trac pulls it fine here in ET, never a problem other than the normal stuff. Motor starts everytime, all the gauges and oem stuff still work like new imo. I haven't looked at the newer models lately, but I bet he will be happy with it. I don't know how a 7 y/o boat would be if it was stored outside w/o a cover like I have seen some, and those have been fairly rough shape imo. If he takes care of it, then it will last him. These are good 1st boats price wise, fully rigged like others, so just put gas/oil in and your tackle, go to the lake.
