The thing looks homemade to me? Someone with way too much time on there hands.
Someone on here made one before. That one looks like it's ready for the trash can or a collector's shelf.
Okay Boys Here is the skinny. This machine was build back in the 1970's. Fishhair was a synthetic material that was manufactured out of Minneapolis, Minn. It is meant to wind Fishhair on jig It will not work with any thing else because of the way it is made. I happen to have and use this product still have half a pound of it. It came from the carpet industry and it can only be used in the length that is was made in this machine. It is crinkly only at the ends and should be tied as a over wing on flies only in my opinion. That is the only way I use it. If you note in the picture it has a heated cutter as it is the best way to cut this product. It will flat out wear out a pair of good scissors.
They had some really fine colors but a very limited use. Their peacock blue is one of the finest blues that was ever on the market. I use it and it will catch fish for some reason when they are hitting any thing with blue in it. If you look at Revtoby's second pattern in this thread http://www.crappie.com/crappie/jig-t...-deathrow.html that is the pattern that I tie with the Fishhair.
IMHO this should be a collectors piece only.

Just for Grins and Giggles I googled this product. Yes it is still being made and here is the link to see what it looks like. Fish Hair Enterprises, Inc. In fact it is still made in the Twin City area.
Still a lot of colors and some good ones but it has very little if no action. That is too bad as the colors is what set this one apart.

For me it's a no go. I like what I do and how I do it so wouldn't want one. I just like hand made all the way.

I think it's pretty cool... The inventor thought outside the box. My hats off to him... I just placed a bid... I want it for my shelf.... Skip the Nor is a machine in and of itself.
There were some young fellows over in Hattiexburg several years back that used this machine and they tied other than "FisHair" with it (Like feathers for Cobia Jigs) ... They displayed how they tied them with this machine at a Dealer Show one year.
Do not know the current status wether they are still making them or not. They were using the model that had the Glue Dispenser.

I believe there was a video on this site one time showing that machine in action, but I can't find it. I also checked a few other sites.

Hey I think someone did step outside the box to make it, but I just don't like it at all, just not for me. The Nor main difference in it and any true rotary is you can spin it so don't see it as a machine as no motor and all what one does with it. Actually I bought it to help save my shoulder with the thread base and to help with dubbing since I like that stuff, but then the rope dub DVD kind of took it's steam from that part, but for a regular dubbing task it's a lot easier than a regular method due to spinning it. However the down side to spinning it for dubbing and the advantage of rope dubbing is you don't twist the thread like on other kinds of dubbing methods.
I guess that is a bit much to just say it's got no motor, but that is how I see it. I guess if the jig machine would wrap chenille and whip finish that would make it more valuable because you would be able to tie a lot more jigs per day, but it doesn't do all that and for sure doesn't do hackle tails for you.
You like it and that is great, but just not for me. It is an interesting thing to collect though.

That thing is sweet! It'd be an odd piece of history to hold on to and I def wouldn't knock anyone for using it. It makes jigs for you about as much as any other tool we use. There is skill and knowledge involved in every tool you use which, in essence, makes them machines.
As long as you're comfortable then the automatic Shoot Down remarks just to be heard should go through ears.
G'luck on the bidding Rev!
If you get bored w it, I'll give you $15 for it!

The one by FisHair is a motorized one with a foot pedal control ... I have also seen a hand operated one that was really a hand made job ... There is no comparing the 2 with the motorized being so good.
They are both "Tools" and in the right hands can do great work.
My 2 cents worth

My first couple of tries gettin to E Bay to the item got me no where but this last click did.
That looks like on of the older models of the machine and should work just as good as the last one
I saw in action. Good Luck on your bid.

I had a machine for tying flies many years ago I could not use it at all is I could not get used to it but in the right-hand you can do some fast tying the lady that had it before me was a commercial fly Tyer she definitely knew what she was doing with the machine the machine to I used was built by a man in portland oregon they were made from sewing machine there were about 10 of them for the ladies that tie flys I am like skip I prefer the old-fashioned way of doing things and I prefer to do everything by hand after 40 some odd year or so I cannot get used to anything else but again if you have ever used a machine and really get good at it you could really out a lot of jigs.
Good luck on your bidding revtoby, It will be a conversation starter.
That looks like a thread wrapping machine and would work awesome for the flu-fle style or thread neck jigs. I looked at their machines that they are producing today and it looks nothing like the one on Ebay.
Good Tying Toby...lol.

I wouldn't think it's operational... But watch out if it is... I will be cranking out abot 600 jigs an hour selling them for about 11 cents a jig. Put all y'all boys and girls out of business... I'll probably cause a material shortage for you guys..... Pbug get pouring and crazy angler and grandpa bob better stock up....y'all can start packing up y'all vises and put you material on eBay. I'm fixing to bankrupt y'all with my new fly tying machine... I'm gonna need to send my heads over seas to get the eyes painted..... :) wow that was fun
I've just been outbid... Still got a day left. Anyone want to go into business with me... I'm selling stock... $25 a share.
That is what I do, wait until the last 30 seconds and put in a bid, otherwise you just keep driving the price up. Get the last min. bid in so the other people don't have a chance to out bid you. It doesn't always work but I have beat people out before by 50 cents, and you know they are mad.
So your the one.....
