Attachment 63302 Attachment 63301i notice that there are all kinds of ways to fish for crappie and thro the years i have tryed them all .. each one is good tho the four seasons that we have . but when do u change and what do u change to ?

summer time the croppie is sped out they might be in 2 and 3 but you rarly find them in schools like u do in the winter .. i just get a kick out of the people that use one way to fish them all year long and then saw they wasnt bitting when they dont get anything . saterday i was out and most everyone was spider rigging now i know there is a time and a place for that but that day and this time of year that way is not it ..

long line trolling is when I run art.grub tails, gold spinner sizes o,1,2,3,4,,ratle traps 1/32,1/8,1/4.jigs 1/64,1/32,1/16,1/8 and trail them behind my boat from 30 ft to 100 ft going at a speed of 1.o to 1.5 depends on the depth when i find where they are i can cover alot more water this way i trolled about 10 mile that day and found them in a spot where no one was fishing and there i was gotting big ones and loading up on the big ones

so the answer to this art . vs live is what time of year is it is what you fish and to the one way fishing people out there you might want t add more them spider rigging to your ways .. i am sorry to say this that dont work all the time

You can long line minnows too. The best part is they dont have to stay alive. Cause right now it is almost impossible to keep them alive anyways.

I have caught fish in all four seasons longlining with southern pro jigs. You may need to slow down or speed up depending on the water temp but this is normally how i fish year round and I dont have a prob catching fish. FLslabhunter and another guy named Chad fish with jigs year round and catch em too. Im sure there are guys on here that fish with minnows year round and catch em too. Experience on certain lakes is worth a million bucks, i have been out and caught a 2 man limit and there were guys at the ramp who only had 2 or 3 and they were fishing with the same thing i was, just didnt have the speed and depth i did i guess. It just comes down to whether or not you put your time in, learn a lake(s), and move with the fish. If you know where they are and you put it infront of thier face there gonna hit it most of the time. I just like jigs cause they dont rip off as much, dont die, and can get em in more colors than minnows. But i do use minnows when they are in the pads.

I rerely if ever fish with a minner alone. I might tip a jig with em but rarely just a minner.

Yep i agree, ole daspeckhunter ties some pretty jigs, he doesnt broadcast em on here but they look pretty dang good. Your secret is out Nate!

yes i agree there is a time and a place .. i was in the ternament there on saterday 6/4/11 and everyone but me was spider rigging and using minners but i wasnt and i came in frist with bigg fish as well and i have only fished this lake 2 times there was bigg time pros there with all kinds of ele, they was using but it came down to what i was doing and how i was doing it .. had over 7 lb of fish almost 8 lb with 7 fish and bigg fish was 1.8 i think but we walk away with it all .. it was nice beating the big pros and seeing them fall ...lol... but fishing is fishing and i just like to fish it dont really matter win or lose . but winning is nice

Exactly the way I fish.Thumbs Up I've pitched jigs, verticle fished, spider rigged, night fished, minnows, jigs...you name it I've tried it but always come back to longlining. SYG, I'll also add a splitshot or two (or multiple jigs to a line) to get it in their faces in 15'-18' of water (if necessary) and get bit.;):)

Right on with the splitshot, gotta cover diff depths. I will usually start off with half no splitshots and half with splitshots and try diff speeds. I wont be exactly sure how deep im fishing but i will know the right weight/speed that the fish will want on a certain day. And a variable speed trolling motor with autopilot keeps me right where i want to be as well.

They work well too! Occasionally....... As for the conversation goes different strokes for different folks. Might as well master all the techniques. thats why im gonna start side pulling and crank pulling.

now ur thinking das you know they work and you have seen them done its better to have most if not all under your belt .. if not its like being a 1 wheel wonder .. but for the answer its they all work you just need to know when to use what ....

Attachment 63392well i dont know what kind of fishing you for crappie . i have a moterguide 45lb wirless its a bow mont just got it 6 months ago and for the money it was the best the foot pedle kind i wouldnt get you have to stay on them all the time and that takes u from the fishing when u do get one on .. u will go off course and the u have the oldest kind that the hand control is good if u need it in the back of the boat .. i do rec. trying to put the ele. morter in front by all means u have better control .. as far as what brand to get i have moterguide and i have the others and this one by far has been the best . the next thing to consiter is ur boat how big is it and do u need a 24 insted of a 12 i have a 12 they last as long as a 24 i have a small boat and it works on mine i dont kmow if u can see it bout this one is mine

what is the best speed range to try for long lining during the summer months ? Should you go faster in the summer/hot months and slower in the cooler months or the other way around ?

it maters on if ur fishing the morning or the afternon .. in the mornin i will go 1,3 to 1.5 and is a 1/16 jug head if i see them busting the top of the water and about 8 am i will start to slow it down to 1.0 to 1.2 depending on the depth and wind .. with 40 to 80 feet out behind the boat i know others will say dif ,, but this is what i do .. and then when i find where they are i keep the speed and go in a ovel to keep on them if u have a gps it will really help you out .. in the summer on full moon i start in water of 5 to 8 feet and work out to deeper water .but on no moon i work from deep to shallow its just the op. this is only what i do and i hope i help you out a little where r u from jimp if i can ask ?
