1198 si

Hey guys , is the 1198si easier to see in sun than the 898si or 998si ? I know it is a bigger screen, but I have read on some posts that the 898 & 998 are dim compared to the 700 model, and the 1198si can't fine a sun cover for , the 998si yes,Raptorcap,so what do you guys think ? Thanks:D

Anybody , Wife said to get the 1198si but don't know if I'll have room on my Alu,165cs or not, so may go with the 998si, so thats why I am asking , Thanks

I have an 898 and no problem seeing it in the sun. Have to take to sunglasses off though.

The 1198 was supposed to have a brighter screen than the 1197....I have not actually heard any personal accounts to attest to this...

I wear a darker colored shirt so that my shirt's reflection in my 1197 screen does not affect my viewing.....

I would think that the same raptorcap that fits the 1197 would also fit the 1198...I do not think the bezel and casing was changed...

Hello, I have an 898 and have a terrible time seeing it in the sun.

I have the 1198 and have used it about 30 times and have had no trouble with the veiwing in the direct sunHands Clapping

I have the 798 and 1198 and have no problem seeing them. Those two models are the brightest of the HB line. I had a 1197 and the 1198 is brighter.

I have not had a problem viewing my 898cSI. I've had it only about four months now. Most of the time I have the brightness setting at 8. Unless there is a direct reflection of the sun I've never had a problem viewing the screen.

The 1198 uses an LED back-lit screen. The 898/998 still use the CFL type screen. My guess is Humminbird will probably make them all LED type screens in the future.

Thanks guys, I was at BPS this weekin and looked at all of them the 1198 just looked alot brighter than the 998 - 898, but the 798 ? looked bright too , will have to see if I have room on my Alu. 165 cs some where for the 1198si , Lol

I asked and was told by Dennis and Tammy Watters that they do sell a sunshade for the 1198 (fits all 1100 series models) unit. They do not have it posted on their web site as yet but you can call them or e-mail them to order one:
