Hb 1198si or 898 si

Guys Wife said I can get the 1198si over anything smaller for my B-day next mo.:D but don't know if it's going to take up to much room on the console on my boat , I have a Alum. 165cs and don't have that much space on the dash, any you guys have a pic. of your setup on a Alum. 165cs or something close of how you mounted the 1198si or close would help , I know bigger is better but if it's in the way ? well just don"t know, like having to get longer shorts Rofl,lol.:rolleyes: Anyway , thanks and have a great day

I'd say go as big as you can, I've seen 1198's mounted on 17ft boats. If you can get an 1198, then don't drop below the 998.

Bigger screen is indeed better for viewing on the water.

get the biggest one.....size matters.

There are some pics here on the board somewhere. I don't know what you're console looks like, or what it's made of. I have a 998 mounted to the left hand side, vertical face of my aluminum console with the big ram mount, works great. I don't know if I would mount one like that to fiberglass without at least a metal backing plate on the inside. The 998 is heavy, I would imagine that the 1198 is a good bit heavier. You might also look on the bass boat site or the humminbird si site (not the HB website) for pics. I think I remember seeing a number of them there also.

I know a guy that has a 997 mounted on his kayak, if he can do that then there is no boat a 1198 cant be mounted on.

My buddy has one on his 17' aluminium and I know it will fit on my 16 footer. They make several brackets and when mounted on the right-hand side of the dash, it angles out over the boat just a little. I've even seen them mounted the same way on the largest of boats; that is, the unit protudes over the boat's gunnel just a bit.

I have a 1198 and a low 5" mounted at my console and my boat is a 16 ft tracker pro angler. I will get a pic for you tomorrow when I get home.

Here is my 997 (same physical size as a 898) on a 17' Pro Crappie. It is mounted with a RAM mount and sits just inside the gunwale. I just used the cup holder for my cell phone since it was partially blocked.

Get the 1198 and make it work. I have an 898 and love it, but would rather have a bigger screen!!!

I have heard not one person get the 1100 series and wish they had bought smaller....
