Unfortunatly I couldn't make it to the tourney yesturday, my sister graduated from ou and the ceremony was yesurday. so i was just wondering how it all went.?.
It went very well and thanks to Odie and Brian for putting this together, and to Larry Russell crappie Pro, and Todd Huckabee for the use of his scales. A local team won it, Brian and Odie had it won,....but one of their big fish was gill hooked and died. Big fish was a 1.75.
We had a great time yesterday hosting our first ever tournament. I first want to thank Todd Huckabee for opening the store early to allow us to check-in there and get any supplies we needed. The breakfast was really good there also. Todd called Brian during the day and volunteered to weigh the fish for us also. Another special thanks to Larry Russell, owner of Crappir Pro, he donated several packs of jigs to give away. He also donated $25 to the biggest fish caught on a Wasshoppa.
We had 11 teams show up and fish. It was a very cold and windy day for May 14th.
The winner of the tourney was David King and Claude Self they weighed in 7.55lbs. $180
2nd place went to Nick and Brady Blizzard they weighed in 7.45 lbs. $100
3rd place went to Darren Young and Andy Blizzard who also had 7.45 lbs. $50
Tiebreaker Nick and Brady's big fish was 1.5 and Darren and Andy's big fish was 1.20
Big fish pot went to Doug ? and Loyd ? their big fish weighed 1.75 and was worth $ 110.
Brady and Nick won the $25 donation for the biggest fish caught on a Wasshoppa.
Thanks to everyone for coming out fishing and having a good time. We hope to put on a couple more of these during the coming months.
Odie
I'd like to thank both Odie and EB for putting this thing on. We had a good time and it was good to get to talk to some CDC'ers and see the fish come in. Also thanks to Larry, owner of CrappiePro for donating Wasshopah's and for the extra $25. It was nice to be able to stop at Todd's store and sign in, get some early morn food and supplies before heading out. For such a small store, that place turns out some good food! Thanks to Todd for opening it up early and helping with the weight in!
I look forward to the next one and I hope it's soon!
My only request is next time, put the screen names with the actual names on the results so we can connect the screen name with a face!
Thanks again guys, ya'll did an outstanding job!!
Don, If we thought that would have helped we would have done it. LOL!!! We cut the line and left the jig in her mouth and she died in less than 10 min. anyway. That is fishing. We had a good time anyway.
Odie
Here are some photos of our tournament.
Todd Huckabee was our official weigher.

Odie
Thanks for putting this tourney on Odie and Brian, I appreciate it!
Thanks!!!!Hands Clapping
dumb rule...huh!
If I remember right Doug's lips were still purkered up when I saw him..LOL
Again thanks to all involved in making the Eufaula OCDC Tourney a success. Special Thanks to Larry Russell for his donation of the $25. and the baits. Todd for his time and the opening of his store to all involved. Last but not least to Doug (ODIE) and Brain (EUFAULA BOY), well done guys.
Just want Odie and EB to know they did a great job. The tourney was alot of fun and a success. I appreciate Larry Russell from Crappie Pro for his donations of the wasshoppas and and the $25 add on prize and for having really sharp hooks that ALWAYS gets your fingers...lol. It was very nice of Todd for all he did too. I really enjoyed this tourney and hope to have some more with the OCDC members, even though we got beat by my two sons and I still have not heard the end of it...lol Good job Brian and Doug.
I think they blew three fuses in Doug's boat trying to shock it during CPR.....lol
But still the tourny was great and we are ready for another one.....Odie and EB did a great job of getting it together and Larry Russell from Crappie Pro and Todd huckabee made it even better.
I feel bad that we didn't make it.
But that's another whole long story and right now, I'm too tired to type it all out.:o
Here's Doug holding the big crappie @ 1.75

Well gotta congradulate the winners of the tournament David King and Claude Self. Especially Claude Self, who has been a lifetime friend of our family. It took me back this morning when I saw his name at the top of the list and I immediately new who he was... There is only one Claude Self. Well it looked as though you guys had one heck of a time and a great turnout.
I think everyone had a great time, and I would like to thank everyone who fished it! When Doug and I discussed the entry fee we decided that it would not be about the money at all. But when we started paying out to the winners the money wasn't bad. If you did good you could least get your entry fee back and maybe cover the money you spent on gas (Boy is it high). I told Todd and Barry that I wanted them to be invovled in all these tournaments. They both said they would fish them in the future. Doug and I are kicking around some dates for June and July!
Odie,
Rumor has it McAlester EMS said that was the first crappie case they were ever called out on. Of course that is so far just a rumor! LOL
Thanks to everybody that made the event possible.
Ranger 09, please don't park your new CLEAN boat next to mine! LOL
The fish died just shortly after doug hooked him! We worked on him a little for about an hour but couldn't revive him. Doug had his bait in the water and was looking away when that fish run off. Unfortunatly the fish swallowed the bait. We fished with rod in hand and would set the hook as soon as we felt the bite and some the fish still had it in their throat. They were inhaling the baits!
Everything was great up to the moment the cop showed up. Wonder how he knew everyone was going to be there? And I didn't think state troopers would do boat inspections. This guy obviously went out of his way to pounce on the weigh in.
Stink i have been checked atleast 3 times by a state trooper at sardis. So yes they do checks right along with the lake patrol.
Lake Patrol and Highway Patrol or one in the same. Shame on them for spoiling a good time. I hope nobody in the parking lot got a ticket since technically, they weren't on the water or "operating" the boat.
1 good thing that came out of the OHP feller bein there was I found out my fire extinguisher was bad..new boat and bad extinguisher..go figure that 1 out..well got a new 1 so I am rerady for him now..lol..no ticket was a good thing
Hat if you would wipe some of that Ole Muddy off it every now and again it wouldn't matter where i parked..lol..maybe that was my problem the man with the ole muddy all over it won the tourney..lol
Ranger, MUD!! surely you jest. That is poor boy camo!!! LOL
Your a HOOT Kent..ok poor boy camo
Musselman???????
Surely not
I must be slipping on my ability to size someone up by their appearance. This guy looked like a Dudley Do-Right to me and I find is hard to believe he cut you some slack on the fire extinguisher. You just bought that boat in January, right? Or was it in December?
Sure glad he did, hope no one else got a fine.
And I wondered about all the boats being on dry land and not in the water when he done his checks. I'm sure there's some clause in state law that allows them to do this legally, but where do they draw the line?
Can they do a boat inspection on the side of the road? How about on any public property? The boat ramp at Crowder is technically public property and the roadway falls under the jurisdiction of a state trooper or any other law enforcement officer, but the boats were high and dry.
Maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age...........lol.:p
Was it Musselman?
Last year I was given a warning by this same guy (at least I think it was the same one, he was bald also). My warning came because there was about a 1/4" space between the "OK" and the registration numbers on the side of my boat. He was making a big deal of it. Said there should either be no space or a "dash" separating the two. As he was explaining all of this to me, all I could think about was "Really???? You've got to be kiddin' me. With all the hoodlums blasting through the no wake zones by the ramp one cove to the south at Rock Creek and those same bozo's zooming past anchored boats and the best you can do is bust my boys over a 1/4" space between my numbers????"
But I thanked him for bringing such a violation to my attention and wished him a good afternoon and went on my way......keeping other thoughts and opinions to my self....
Musselman retired a long time ago.
Yeah it wasn't Ivan be Ivan told me about this one! I took Ivan fishing with me a couple of time last winter.
Smoke, What day did we decide on this weekend Saturday or Sunday?
Winger, where were you, we missed you at the tournament.
Well if Doug had not been distratcted by something I was doing, I think he would have caught the fish in the top of the mouth. The big fish was swimming off with his bait when he turned around! But thats how it goes sometimes!
I'll call you Smoke
Sorry, Brian. My partner had things come up and I ended up assisting with working up a trapped bear.
I had hoped to at least make the weigh-in to visit with everyone, but work frequently messes things up:mad:
I do hope to make the next one! Sounds like everyone had a good time and caught fish ... even CPD21 ;)
I didn't notice his name..wait I have it on my reciept of the inspection..sorry it took so long had to walk to the shop..lol..well after all that I got a badge #256 and some chicken scratching for a name..you would figure someone writing tickets would have to write so a man could read it..maybe its something a judge cant read so he just slambs the the desk and says GUILTY..go figure..anyway I gave it my best to get the name for ya'll
