Not showing on the web site either.
No they are not Fatman because I their to look there too, LOL!
I looked too, the only thing i think he maybe referencing is i recall seeing a Slaters jig ad in a magazine, stating worlds best crappie jigs. I could be way off base, cause it was awhile back...
If it's the world's best crappie jig then I need to see it.:D:D
In the new issue of In-Fisherman Magazine (northern issue) on page 14 under Tackle Topic is a small one paragraph article about the "World's Finest Crappie Jig" It is made by a guide; Jim Porter; and is called the Grey Ghost. jimporter.org
Not sure what it's all about but I'll thumb through a copy when I find it at the store. If I had to guess it's either a paid shill or a pattern like a grey ghost.
I don't want to turn this into a soapbox thread or stump for anyone in particular but the entire In-Fisherman network is not what it used to be compared to when the Linders had it. And if you noticed who did and didn't follow them over to "The Edge", I think it says a lot. The fellas that are still at In-Fisherman are about as smart as they come when it comes to fishing....beyond that ...well...
I saw the Jim Porter lure and have some , not better than any thing else never got any fish will maybe snag one ,stick to your old lures and catch fish
its jim porters site...he has a pattern called the gray ghost and he dubbed it the perfect crappie jig....its a hot pattern here in louisiana( gray on gray on gray )...we all tie it....let me put it this way...there are great tiers here on CDC and we all share similar patterns and they all catch fish. They may not be of the same quality but they still catch fish.. There is no perfect crappie jig but if there is its probably the ones i tie LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Laughed when I went to his site and saw it, man that must have cost some bucks to put that ad in In-FIsh
Slaters jigs are nice... But a hand tied jig with good colors you made yourself is prettier :D... and tougher
I've been tying a gray ghost pattern for a couple of years, and it and it's variations are all popular around here. But you know some folks will go " ooooh, I gotta have it" and order a dozen. Good advertising, look at all of us that are talking about it, and we don't want it!! Smells like money to me.
I too have my own versions of that jig, several in fact.

He ties some with ridiculously small hooks with 1/16th or so wedge shaped heads. There's next to no gap left. I've done a couple orders where people mailed them to me and said I want this pattern but on a bigger hook.
