Have you tested it? Looks great, but seems like the lip would need to be on the underside for it to operate right.
It swims just like a fish I tested it in some water :)... and crankbait lips are facing down because they float and the lip facing down makes it dive... But with a jig it sinks so it needs to be pointed up so it doesn't dive into the mud and stay there. Hydrodynamics are very important in lure making.
I gotcha makes sense
it looks like to me that it would wobble a great deal have you caught many fish on that jig in what is that material you're using for the lip.
I like your fresh way of thinking for sure. It looks like you moved up to a more expensive vise as well...lol. Keep up the good work!
Thanks nightprowler lol
Looks good, let us know how it does...
yes definitely keep us up to date on how that thing works on fish. I am very interested because there you are special blades or I should say lips that you can buy already made very inexpensive but if that has the action like a small fish in the water it should be deadly. You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more of your creativity.
Thanks Alot snake river... I'm hoping to start a small business soon so that means a lot that from someone that also has there own business. And I will keep you guys updated on how well it works with the fishies. :)
Mack,
I made a similar jig and they work well! I have caught largemouth, hybrid stripers, and even catfish on mine. It does swim well if you have the right size/shape lip.

P.S. I thought I had developed something new, but these type jigs have been around for a while - look for "Scrounger" heads.
I know the idea isn't new they're just not popularized by alot of companys... and There's alot of different things to a lure to invent to make it a prize winner keep it up and I will too . :)
Mack,
Just to clarify - I didn't mean that as a dig. When you have an idea and something similar is being made commercially, you should take that as a signal that the idea was a pretty good one!
When I started trying to make a jig that would wobble I didn't know about the Scrounger head and I experimented with adding modified suction cups. Eventually those worked, but then I found out that the Scrounger had been made years before I came up with the idea. That just told me the idea was a good one.
BTW, nice ties!

i know ur usign clear plastic but wat r u getting from it looks like the plastic frm the plano tackle boxes
do u think the dividing squares out of a plano tackle box would work
Yeah I'm sure it's made of the exact same type of plastic I used... If ya need any help just message me.
I have done the same thing and the results are awesome. I use the small silver spoons for additional flash. I also looked at the scrounger type designs but I like the smaller blade underneath personally.
This is the scrounger type jig head

This is my design. Again you have the wobble of a crank bait and the versatility of soft plastic on a jig head. Additionally, you can do this "Crank Jig" on 1/32 and 1/16th jig heads. You can also turn the underneath blade in the opposite direction if you want a different wiggle or action as turning it that way will "Scoop" more of the water at a time.

Shipahoy do you still make these? If not, what type glue do you use to keep blade on if that's what you do? Thanks
Shipahoy I checked out the web site but what size blade would you use for a 1/16 or a 1/32? Thanks
