Can we get a off topic? No fishin to talk about with the weather..
I agree..call it shooting the bull!
looks like more storms here tomorrow.
Guys talk all the off topic you want right here on the regular board. If someone starts complaining about all the BS then we can see about an off tpic board.
thanks cs
Say Nimrod.... How do you drink them Budweiser's and fish?
I noticed he drinks Budweiser and I thought.... I haven't drank that in a while.. Bought a six pack today and MAN! They get you drunk! I can't fish when I get to drinkin. I wind up ridin around chasing coots and beavers.
Just remember Slab want it to stay clean, in other words don't post any thing that a kid doesn't need to read.
I reckon I can be good....
I'll try! LOL!
It doesn't matter what a forum is called, little fights can break out of any of them.Thats to be expected with a group this large,so for I've seen nothing wrong with what little fights that has sprung up.You never know who is having a bad hair day and a miss read word can light a fire under them even tho they are ready good people.I even like trying to light a little fire just to see if I can get a little smoke from someone I like on the forumRofl.
Anyway if any new forums are added for arkansas I'd like to see a forum for lakes and rivers.Info on how to get to them, even with our cell phone picture could be taken to show boat ramps.Don't want to know if they are biting or your/our honey holes. With gas prices I don't need to drive around lost for half a day trying to find new water to fishThumbs Up.
Wow! That's a hijacking if I ever saw one!
Just joking Turtlebait! I was trying to light that fire! LOL!!!!
is it raining where you are now?
it probably will be before the day is out. and where did you move to up there on the lake? i fished it when it was new and still think it's one of the prettiest lakes around. don ray owned the narrows boat dock then and i think there were over 60 guides out of his dock during the "hot" period of that lake. i got my first red garcia 5000 at his dock. that lower part can and does get very much like the ocean if the wind gets bad enough. i fished out of shilo marina and fished the lower part most of the time. one time i had just made it back to the dock and the owner said he was fixing to send the rescue boat out looking for me. another man came in and said the waves were almost 8 ft high but i think he was stretching it a foot anyway. back then i was fishing out of a 14 ft al jon boat with a 30 inch bottom. caught a lot of good bass there and the white bass schooling was something else to see back then. then i got my first bass boat and ventured up into the upper part of the lake some. all the guides or the biggest part had kenzie craft boat with tiller motors on them. larry nixon was either 14 or 15 years old and he and his dad guided out of the narrows dock and were two of the top guides back then along with probably the best glen cossey. larry was guiding at night during the summer which amazed me at that age. the people that own the dock now came from close to where i lived in the bootheel. they lived south of there a few miles. how's that for hi-jacking?
I have only been on Greason 1 time. Went up there to do a little boat racing. beautiful lake!
Guys, I need some advice.
Due to the long drive my wife has to get to work, she started car pooling with a guy from work. It seemed to work out pretty good at first but then she started getting home later and later. Sometimes she stays several hours late at work. I noticed the other day that if I was up and around she would get out of his car and come right into the house. But if I was in bed and the lights were out they woould just sit in the drive way for a long time. Last night I decided I would turn out the lights and hide behind my boat and just see what went on when she thought I was asleep. I was not prepared for what I saw. As I stood there behind my boat when they pulled into the drive, the headlights illuminated a crack in my prop. I need to know whether I should get it repaired, or just buy a new one?
yes and no
Get a stainless, less apt to crack.

I think you could buy a whole new boat and nothing will be said. Or you might want to get the crack magnifluxed just to be sure. Lucky thing you saw it before it caused problems.
BTW
How did you get your wife to start "car pooling". I have tried to get mine to "carpool" and she won't do it. I don't think she likes to "carpool" with me anymore. Sure would be cheaper on me if she "carpooled" with someone else.

olduckhunter,
You're sure bringing back some old memories on Greers. I have just started fishing it again in the last few years. Glen was my best buddy back then. He got electrocuted down in Many,La when the boom on truck touched live wire. This was back in late 70's.
yes, i knew what happened to glen. i was lucky and got to fish (free) with him a couple of times at night. jay and amy donathan were helping don run the dock some and i got aquainted with jay. when he found out my last name he asked if i had a brother that taught dentistry at ut at memphis. i told him i did and he said he liked one quarter finishing dentistry school there and took some time off and came to greers and never went back to school. he asked if i'd like to go out some night with glen. and one night while by myself (back then most boats would turn their lights off when fishing) i was running across the lake out from eden isle and happened to see a real small styrofoam chunk laying in the water. i wasn't paying any attention to my depth finder at the time. i turned around and picked up the chunk and it had a string and weight on it. i looked at the depth finder and i was on top of a sunken island i never knew was there. i turned off my lights and motor and about that time over a quater away a boat turned it's lights on and was heading in the direction of the narrows. i knew then who that marker belonged too. i proceeded to fish a while and caught some bass. the next day i went down to the dock and found glen and handed him his marker. he said, "was that you? don't ever fish that place till after midnight and don't tell anyone else about it." back then topo maps weren't heard of or not that i knew at that time. glen was a dandy. a lot of the guides left greers and went to toledo bend which was a hot lake then and or to sam rayburn. jay and amy went to sam rayburn and i fish it a couple of times. i got a christmas card from jay and amy for years then they stopped. i found out later that he had passed away. yes, a walk down memory lane. by the way that sunken island is off the point of that island out of water off eden isle if you live close and fish the lake at night for bass. i'm sure it still holds bass.
LOL! the only car pooling she does is with me. Me, my wife and my daughter spend $900.00 a month on fuel. I told my wife that if we didn't find a way to drasticaly reduce that expense we were either going to have to sell the farm and move to town or we were going to have to trade her Duramax Silverado in on a Prius. So we try to leave 2 vehicles in town at her sisters house and all ride home together when we can. It helps some, but we haven't been able to make it work more than 3 days a week thus far
i envy you. i remember your posts about buying and working on the house to get it ready to move in.
If I had some crappies (more than 1)
And you had some crappies (more than 1)
Listen folks.. We both have more than 1 EACH....
If I give you one of mine we each would have the same amount.
But, if I did not give you one of mine and you give me one of yours I now have twice as many as you.
How many crappies did we each start with?
You would start with 7 I would start with 5.
OK... 2 trains start 90 miles apart heading towards each other on a collision course. one train is going 55 mph and the other train is going 35mph. There is a bee that flies 63 mph flying back and forth between the trains. How many miles will the bee fly before he is mashed between the trains?
63 miles.
Very good! do you do taxes? LOL!
Nope I pay someone else, mistakes on those cost you dearly. Been there Doh
Stinkin' AR amateurs....can't even go off topic without bringing up fishing.
How's the new job treating you Creek? LOL.
Wannabe...
