Went out yesterday to Lake Perris to do some BG & RE fishing.
This 17.5”/2.5lb crappie didn’t know that.

Nice fish LH! I'll have to give those little ones a try this Spring! :)
Nice Job Led! Those are some sweet little gems you have. Both the jig and the Crappie. Is the hat an heirloom?
Awesome pics.... Love the big eyes on that jig... Let's see some pics of that little beauty.
Some pictures of the jigs please. Nice slab.
Beautiful Fish!
Thnx all
of - think you have some of those heads...
np - hat is used a lot down here in SoCal, mostly on the saltwater. Like it for the shade - just blew a whole in this one (car door damage).
rt - the red eyes work, coast to coast. Have a guy on **************** (not sure if I can put that here) that just caught his PB Redear on the the same pattern 1/32nd marabou tail - Red eyes.

The jig used to catch the crappie is the one in the upper left.
Led Nice fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on the catch. That jig is sweet and I like using the red eyes also. Nice pics, thanks for posting them Thumbs Up.
Awesome Crappie and nice jigs too.
Nice fish, and a real good jig. My favorite is a 1/16 in a combo that's real close to that. Great minds think a like..........
Thnx again Qs1958, Fm, SH, B1, & sb.
Skeet, real fish catching pattern - are you doing a hard body pattern? I don’t really use the duck, Jungle got me interested in it, and that crappie really got the gears moving.
SH – starting to think the 3D eyes are a lot better than painted eyes. You can’t paint the glitter effect you get with the domed eyes. The 2D eyes are OK but you get a more life like appearance from 3D.
Sorry to take so long to answer your question Ledhed. I tie mine with a chenille body and a little flash or angel hair, usually red, to give it a bit of interest. Bare heads and red or bronze hooks both do well. 1/32 is my smallest that I use, but have tied them on 1/80 and folks picked em out of my box before I could use em. Right now I'd be glad to have enough time to go wet a line. Priorities and all that, but soon I'll be back into it. Take care.........Skeet.
ledhed that is a awesome looking jig in your picture.
That's a pig crappie,Led. Look's like it was wanting a little snack. That is a deadly little bait you made.Really nice ties.
Nice fish and jig. Only been fishing a hand full of time this year (when friends were going and had me a open spot in the boat) as I didn't get my boat out last Sept when they were going to drop the lake past where I could get out due to some problems. So land locked, enjoy seeing some nice big crappie!
Congrats!

Snake, the body is wrapped entirely with thread, then clearcoated over with SH hard as nails.Glitter can be mixed with the SH for scale effect. You can catch 1000 fish on a jig like this if it wasn't for snags. They are virtually indestructable.
Way to go! 1/64 jigs will catch a ton of fish.
we have made stuff like this before, but I did not use hard is nails. I used epoxy. Quick drying and we added in coloring . I have done this over 20 years ago. Yes they are very indestructible even the ones that I used. I was only curious in the way that they were made I was pretty sure that you made them that way they work terrific on bluegill is I made some with the root beer color .
