I personally would only because I do not have one mounted. Like you, I think I may have caught a couple of 3's in the past but never cared about mounting one until the last few years. But if I can ever hit 3+ again I plan on getting it mounted.
I hooked a bigger one the sameday,so maybe i will wait a while longer. Some buddies say 3lbers are average in this lake ,but i don't know.
Personally, I'm waiting on my first 3+. Then it's going on the wall
Not sure. My walls are full of ducks and deer and it would be a problem just finding a place to hang it. I've always said I'd mount a 3 lber though.;) Congrats on the big fish.:)
I hear ya gabowman. I have a room with a butt load of deer heads and 2 bears but no big crappie..............yet!;)
In search of a 4 lber, myself. Fishing Sardis, Arkabutla, and Grenada, I don't really consider 3 lbs a trophy. if I lived somewhere else, a 3lber would be a trophy for sure. I have been thinking of keeping 3 lbers in the freezer until I have a 7 fish stringer and getting a mount of that.
My biggest was from Butla @ 3-1/4 lbs. Tasted great with a side of fried taters and hushpuppies. :D The elusive 4 pounder or unheard-of 5 # monster would grace my wall inna HURRY!
THAT...would be absolutely AWESOME! Just remember to freeze 'em packed in water so they don't dry out...
Taxidermist told me to freeze them flat wrapped in a plastic garbage bag.
When slab master froze their 3+ last year at my house, the taxidermist told them to wet a towel, wrap the fish flat in that, then in a garbage bag and freeze as flat as possible. Seems that'd be easiest on the hide to me.
Gonna take a 4 for me. My trouble is, I've never seen a Crappie Mount that looked worth a flip to me. The belly is always so uniformly white as to make it appear to be replica. Seen a bunch of Bass and brim that looked good though.
Wannabe...
Have you ever seen the string of crappie mounted in the show case at Grizzly Jig? It's pretty amazing!
big. We caught one in the tournament saturday and didnt even place in big fish. AINT THAT A @#%$#
Thanks guys for the opinions,I think i will wait a while.By the way the fish did come from butla.
