yeh, 36 volts but I sho figgered that 24 would atleast let me turn it on
Dats what ya get for figgering....now go get ya some group 31's and some heavy battery cable and a good automatic circuit breaker.
It should turn on and run with 24.

It sure was fun drilling all those holes in that fiberglass.
Should have added one of those kit that let the motor slide back in the stowed pos.

It'll only run the motor if you bypass all the electronics and straight-wire the motor. The electronics won't let it turn on if the battery voltage drops below a pre-determined threshold...keeps thangs from smokin. :)Quote:

ain't nothing on those batteries but the TM. Got the Lektronics hooked to the crank battery. They're not on the boat no how. I take them off so they won't get stolt. Just the angle WB, it's on scrait.
00G, gonna have to just get what I can for now. Moneys TIGHT but as soon as I get back right, I'll go get 3 of the 31's. Got my trolling plate on the motor though for now when the TM batteries get to weak
No, ya gewber, he ain't talking about your fish finders, he's talking about the computer chip that controls and monitors your trolling motor that's preventing it from turning on with 24V. Minimum voltage is prolly in the range of 31 or 32 volts.

All group 31's are not alike......they come in different amp sizes....you want the ones with the highest reserve amp hr. rating that you can get.
Also....you need to rewire your boat......you need a larger guage wire for 36 volts than you were using with your 12/24 volt system. You also need a good automatic circuit breaker rated for at least 50 amps.

6 gauge wire is what you need. I'd be surprised if your boat only has 8. I assume those bay boats are normally rigged with large trolling motors and would naturally be factory rigged with 6. But he's right....you gonna need 6 gauge and yes, you'll need a good 50+ amp breaker on it.

DD....ES paid attention to all the battery and wireing stuff.....he did that part the right way.....he just don't know nothing about launching a strange boat the first time.
I got the battery over in DA HOOD abit ago. excide group 31. (put the battery on my C.C. so I'm good to go. (also put my 357 mag between the seat n console for easy access.) Gonna use that and my 2, 27's until I can afford to get 2 more 31's. Couple months tops. Since the spawn is on at barnett, I'm gonna JACKILY set the new 31 right next to the 27's on the boat deck and hook up with some 4 to 6 gauge wire til Friday when I'll hook them up the right way. That is unless there's 90 MPH winds blowing tuesday and I can't go fishing. If that's the case, I'll wire and hook up the right way that day
