looks good maachu.. looks real good in my opinion. I wouldnt change a thing
I think they look good also.
nice work!
Got flash? LOL! Joking man. Only say this b/c in my neck of the woods we have clear/very clear water conditions and flash is used sparingly.
They look good. If you have a proven pattern, I personally think "how do they look?" rarely impacts the fishability unless the feather, flash or fur is falling out. It looks like you are using fine/size 0 chenille, you may want to try medium/size 2 which is larger and would require less wraps/overwraps. But like I originally said they look fine to me.
good work...Thats a real popular jig style with the flash..on your way to bass pro shop fame.
oh,, and clean those eyes brother. just sayin
They look fine, but I would take the chenille to the hook point at least and I usually go for that hook point or between that and the barb depending on hook size. The larger or longer the hook shank the less I try to get past the hook point.
However I see no reason they wouldn't catch fish.
On the flash thing, I make some flash tail jigs too, but my normal jig with flash would have just on small strip down each side of the tail. I do like using some flash chenille for a tail some and even some Krystal Flash tails that are all Krystal Flash.

see that is what I love about this board, I have learned just in this post that I need to be aware of what size chenille I order and that I can take my chenille on down to the hook tip. Oh yea skip, do you taper up from there or do you build it all the same height all the way to the back of the head ? and another question to you skip, that picture in your signature, what wrap is that you are using on it ? I have seen it but have no idea what it is called
thanks
With chenille I typically only use size 0 on a size #8 hook or smaller.
I know it is not addressed to me, but I always want to cover the shank with thread the entire length i'm are going to apply chenille so it doesn't move. I'll cover the tail material this same length as well.
And one other thing, you are not going to want to compromise the gap with chenille and tail material thickness on smaller hooks. If you are going to extend the chenille further back than the point with say a medium chenille, I would go with at least #4. Again, this is just my opinion.
Yep a size or two bigger chenille will help lots. They look fine, you'll get your own favorite body length as you tie more.
got me some medium chenille ordered, thanks guys for all the info

Try medium antron. It gives you a pretty even tie most every time.
nice-looking jigs the only thing I would do with them is send them to me
Nice looking jigs. The only problem I see with them is they ain't been put in the water yet.
I try to keep it eve as I can. On flies lots call for a taper and thorax and all that, but with jigs just an even body is good.
I use size #2 most because you can tie jigs for smaller than 1/32 all the way to 1/4 and just double wrap the 1/8 & 1/4. I do like #3 a good bit, but I have a lot of colors and some even both #2 & #3 especially on jigs I tie a lot of 1/16 and bigger as it fits well on 1/16 and larger.

Where did you get that flash? Because i found a duster at the dollar tree store that was made of flash and it came in 4 seperated colors... for a dollar i got enough flash to do ALOT of jigs... here is what it looks likeAttachment 58875
I tend to tie my jigs like yours with a shorter, fat body. I like it alot and I have a better hook up ratio when I use short bodied jigs. Great job! keep it up.
