What would you want in it? Things to make it more fishable!
For all the winds and storms we are having a small to medium aircraft carrier and nothing less.
For you and Sat I would think it would need a portable toliet and an endless supply of BLUE towels !!!!
Locking rod storage boxes along the length of the boat.... def worth the add on!
I am going to have a 16 ft lockable rod storage box.
What I looked for when I bought my new Sea Ark is no carpet, wide on the front so two seats up front would not be jammed together. A low front deck, and a back deck thats easier to get up on without having to climb over a dadgummed bench seat , ample storage, a long rod locker on the side. A hull bottom that is V'd all the way back for a smooth ride. Room to mount a rod transport rack. Enough space on the front so I could mount my two HiTek spider rigs and my Terrova and not have to move anything to deploy my TM or to get on the boat from the front.
The largest screen SI unit made with dual transducers and a 36 volt Trolling motor with 3 group 31 batteries and a separate cranking battery (enclosed space to store all 4.
Front livewell and baitwell. Big front deck, no ribs under the bottom of the boat, 115 or bigger motor, cable steer variable speed trollin motor (my preference) all-welded aluminum and three seat pedestal mounts across the front.
Would be set up like the Triton TA-196 crappie, but bigger. Still can't believe they stopped making that boat in '08. If anyone sees one for sale, let me know.
Oh yeah 4 bank charger..
18 ft. long.Wide and deep.Front and rear livewells.Built-in cooler.Plenty of tackle storage.Needs to be v-hull like a Tracker so it will take rough water.24 volt Terrova.Couple of SI Humminbirds.4 Sroke motor. Those are a few things off the top of my head.
Its going to be an 1866, with low front deck. Full aluminum floor with rhino liner. Side console, covered rear deck, 20 gallon fuel tank, flotation pods, kicker motor mount, seven seat pedistals, 20 degree deep vee on front with 28" sides. Livewell front and rear with a front bait well. Tandem axle trailer with brakes. 16 foot lockable rod storage on one side and 12 ft lockable storage from console to front deck. Anything else someone can think of let me know.
Who makes the 1866?
You gonna have F&F build you one torch?
How bout a sound proof cage for Sat when he starts throwing one of his fits? lol The ole boy needs a TIMEOUT on occasion hehe Dry storage though is a big thing and sounds like you got that covered. Kinda like Kitchen Cabinets, you can never have enough of them
Hey DD, Pffffffffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttt!!!! !!!!!!!!!
LOL, you know Ima mess with cha every time I get the chance
Just a potty man. Maybe have some kinda rack put up with a curtain you can close for those Blue Towel Moments. How many rods with the lock box hold? Think about if you take rods for pulling cranks and spider rigging how many you'd need to store. I'm guessing about 16 rods
Don I think it will hold at least 20 if not more.
Can't wait to see this boat, when's the expected delivery date?
Six to eight weeks once we settle on the build.
Sounding good Torch!! I would add two seats on the back deck.
At least one totally waterproof storage box.
We added dual windshields with a lockable (totally dry) glove box. You can mfr. the windshields to fold down to the front. Up here in MO we need the windbreak and works great to keep the driving rain out of your face.
Torch, I dunno if you use the storage trays for yo plastics or not, but I would consider having a frame built to accommodate 8 or 10 trays. I've thought about building one for one of my dry storage boxes. Build em so they slide in vertically. Jus a thought.
Torch you didn't happen to see a 2070 cc in the works over there did ya? Should be ready around the end if the month. Mines gonna be a hybrid for trollin crankin and duck murdering.
Here's some stuff I'd want:
Dual 750 GPH Bilge pumps. Timed aerator with recirc (for hot weather) and pump out for convenience. Of course, front and rear livewells. The one on the back needs to be big...One on front can be small though. Low front deck. Floor space!!!!!!! Chop the rear deck so you get more of it. No body fishes back there anyway and it's easier to pull cranks the lower in the boat you are anyway.
Long as we're dreaming, a built in insulated cooler, that would serve as a step to the front deck if you forgo the lowered front decks for more storage.
On your 12' starboard locker, I'd keep the 12' continuous storage, but have them do 3 4' independent doors so you don't have to move everything off the deck to get one small thing.
Obviously, I'd want every bit of that 66" bottom and I'm guessing 85" beam to come as far forward as I could get it.
Reinforced area under the rod holders and trolling motor mounting surface....No STANKIN' WOOD!!! Either double plate or polyboard backer.
Recessed cleats. Full guauges including water pressure...but they can keep the speedometer....not sure what smart type guages are available for a 4 stroke, but sure would like to have a fuel flow meter switchable guage to calc best cruise for fuel economy as well as full engine monitoring....but if that's not available...at least add on water pressure and an hour meter - no more guessing on engine hours for maintenance.
The battery compartment needs to be wide stinkin' flat out open for maintenance and access to the pumps. Metal battery trays.
Want the drives seat to be a little higher than necessary for ease of entry and exit when pulling cranks..prolly won't be an issue on this boat though, but one gripe I've got with all metal console boats is a flat out secure, no movement console. If welded down with a full seam weld. If it breaks, it can be repaired, but rivets work loose and screws back out and break.
Not sure i'd want 28" sides though, I can see that being a wind sail, but you're prolly wanting to cross over this boat for guiding, so I spose you need it.
Don't want the rod box/storage doors extending past the center pedestall to rob you of options on mounting the 2nd and 3rd pedestal position. Also would want a 4th pedestal a tad more forward for single poling...then again, this ain't gonnabe an ideal single poling boat and you don't single pole anyhow.
And some more stuff I ain't thought of yet.
Wannabe...
Told ya...
Gas shocks on at least the big rod boxes and maybe the others as well.
Wannabe...
oxygen setup....
Already have the O2 set up.
you will enjoy, torch.....i had doug build me an ff boat several years ago, for duckhunting.............i love it.
Had thought about 2 seats at console but decided on a bench seat just so I can use space under it for storage. Doug said I might want a dual console but that takes up a good bit of room.
Oh WB they can mount recessed head lights in the bow, how cool is that.
Don't get a double console, I hate mine.
Torch, you might think about getting a diagram of the boat and let EZ fill it in with useful items. He took his Dura Craft and made a floating crappie dynamo out of it. I don't see how he got so much in so little room. F&F ought to get him to design the "perfect crappie boat".
We got a barebones boat the last three we've bought and had our aluminum guy add in exactly what we wanted and where we wanted it. Would definitely go that route again if we decide to get a Deep Vee SeaArk. :) Always have added double consoles.
Why not a single seat at the console and a 4' bench on the passenger. That way you'd have a 4' box on one side and a small one on the driver and still be able to sit 3 across.
One other thing if you can find it or F&F can make it. Cargo netting around the lip of the gunnel, front side of console, back of seats or any other flat surface no matter how small the area to stuff loose stuff in. Most Deep Vs have some, but you almost never see any Bass hull or Mod V aluminum with it, but that just looks handy as a thumb to me for odds and ends. Been trying off and on to find some for a couple of areas on my boat with no luck.

Torch you wouldn't happen to be gettin rid of none of the other rigs would ya? Dads in the market for an aluminum boat, possibly 17-18 ft with around a 90 on it.
