Tires slashed at boat ramp in mississippi yesterday

I think it's really sad that there are such mean and jealous people out there in Mississippi. Me and my bf have crappie fished in Grenada, MS for years now, but we've always heard of people from Missouri and other out-of-staters getting their tires slashed at the boat ramps. Well, so sorry to say but it happened to us this year. We arrived in Grenada on Thursday (4/1) with my little grandson, fished on Friday until 2 p.m. Noticed that our boat trailer tire was low, and then when we were pulling our boat out of the water, some men from MS pointed out to us that our rear passenger tire on our truck was also leaking air. Had a hell of a time changing the boat trailer tire (good thing we had a spare). Took off of Water Valley boat ramp to get the tire on the truck fixed, and the boat trailer spare tire totally burned rubber, so we had to leave the boat/trailer behind. Started driving a little down the road, and the truck tire completely went flat, so my bf had to change that tire. Some NICE MS ppl offered to help us, but we refused the help. We were really looking forward to this trip with my grandson, but we came home today unfortunately. I guess we'll just stay in Missouri from now and fish. I am definitely notifying the state of MS and the COE about this. This is total BS!!!

Really sorry to hear this. Most all of us have good friends, i.e. speck from MO , billbob, DonG, etc, but it seems there is always a bad apple or two ready to give the rest of us a bad name. Hate that happened to you.

I am not condoning someones ridiculous behavior for cutting your tires but please don't blame it on MS folks. I wasn't there and really wish I had been there but you aren't sure whether it was someone from Missouri or MS that cut your tires. Please call the COE and the sheriff's department. Maybe they have heard about other tires being cut. Rather than than worry about getting your tires cut again, plan a trip to Barnett Reservoir next year and let the c.c guys know your coming. We'll help you find some fish and y'all can have fun.

Are you sure you were at Grenada? The Water Vally ramp is at Enid. I must not be reading something right.

We were staying in Grenada at the Comfort Inn, but yes, we were fishing Lake Enid. All the years we've gone down to MS, we've always said how nice everyone is, so we know every state has a few bad apples. Maybe if they ever get security cameras on their boat ramps then we can come back down because we always look forward to going to MS every April. The crappie are unbelievable! And thanks for the offer crappieholic. We may have to take you up on your offer next year!

If it gets to the point we have to have security cameras at boat ramps I believe I will have to hang up my rods.

Hate to hear about this foolishness, but like the guys said dont judge all the folks from ms because of a couple DA's i may live in tn now but born and raised in ms for 25 years place has its share of idiots.

I have heard of this type of stuff happening at the Water Valley Ramp on Enid for years. I am from MS and won't use that ramp.

Marfeez, I am really sorry to hear about your misfortune. Please dont judge everyone from MS based on one idiot! I have made so many friends in MS and they are the best folks EVER!!!!! That being said, there is a history of vandalism at Water Valley and Long Branch boat ramps this time of year. Both being in such close proximity, I feel its the same idiot or group of idiots doing it. When I fish Enid, I generally launch at State Park (when able). Its a pretty well patrolled area. Dont give up or the AH's win!

I have fished all over the south and even in the midwest a few times. At one point I had fishing license for 8 states and unfortunately this kind of stuff happens to in and out of staters all over the place. Sorry ya'll were the unlucky ones this time.

Very true Tman. My truck was vandalized at a boat ramp 10 miles from my house! There are A******S everywhere.

I hate that happened to you but if you don't come back or someone else doesn't because of this the idoits get what they want. As you can tell folks on this site are proud of our fishing and we sure don't want that kind of rep.

i dont know if it a out of state thing i had my truck push down the boat ramp and they unhook the trailer before they did it found out later it was some kids i live it ms. and with ms tag on my truck so i dont know if it a out of state thing

Sorry for your misfortune,I'm in NC and we have had the same kind of things happen around here too,people with to much time on their hands and no respect for other peoples property.

That is awful! Like stated before, every incident like this I have heard of was at the Water Valley ramp. Don't let the gewbers win, come on back! Just use a more secure ramp.

I feel like most folks in MS and everyone with C.com. It doesn't matter where you live, if you love to fish, you're a friend. Please don't let A-holes like that keep you from coming back to MS.

Never had tires slashed but had a tool box broken into and been keyed, hasnt stopped me from from fishing in ms got a bunch of good freinds in ms, dont give in to those vermin.Come on down and have fun.

Never had tires slashed but did have a large, heavy tackle box stolen out of my boat at Tommy's Trading Post.

Holic if you remember at our FJ this year someone decided they needed my motor toter worse than I did.

Sounds like someone needs to pull parking lot detail. Get were you can get them on video and then get a new Rope. Even here at Pickwick dam we have this problem. But when they caught the ones doing it they were from across the state line. Breaking into peoples trucks and stuff.
There's been a few tires cut here also, But 95% of those were on peoples trailers that pulled in and were blocking a trailer in or taking up 2 spots. Not saying this is right but thats where most of the ones I have seen came from. That or they just back into a trailer and push it out of the way busting lights and finders while getting it out of the way.

Set ya a couple of game cams inside your truck facing your boat boat/trailer. I got that idea on here from Feelay, i think. Thats what i use. Come on back, don't let one sorry soul scare you off for good.

I really hate to hear that! The vast majority of Mississippians are kind, friendly and will gladly help other people out whether they are from Mississippi or not. I hope you will come back to Mississippi and enjoy our beautiful state, I think you will find that as a whole, the people here are as genuine as they come.

On another note, I have launched my boat at the Water Valley and Longbranch ramps probably 50 times and have never had any issues. I am very sorry this happened to ya'll but I think it may have just been a case of bad timing rather an out-of-state tag. But like the others mentioned, don't let this one experience ruin your opinions on Mississippi, if you do, then you are just letting those people win.

Thanks for all of the nice comments guys! Yes, my bf mentioned possibly getting security cameras on our truck. Great idea. When people come to visit downtown St. Louis, alot of times their vehicles get broke into or even carjacked, so yes, this stuff happens everywhere.

marfeez, just curious- Were there many other trucks at the ramp that day? Did you notice any other out of state tags or other property damage? I've never had an issue yet but I always feel a little more nervous when I'm the only truck or one of just a few at a ramp.

When we parked our boat trailer and truck, there were 2 other vehicles there, and we noticed that they were both from Missouri, but we have no idea if they got damage done too.

I'm sorry to hear this. There's always a risk when parking at the ramps, we just don't think about it till it happens to someone. I saw where 4 trucks were broken into at Pickwick last week. As for the guys I have met from this website and on the lakes in north Mississippi and around the ramps, they have all been top notch and very helpful.
The fools that vandalized your property are low life idiots and we have em up here in TN by the droves. I can assure you Mississippi hasn't cornered the market on thugs. I hope they get caught. I hope your grandson gets back down here and catches a few of these slabs.

Tire slashing is total BS and I hope you don't think all of us fishermen in Mississippi would do such a such a criminal act. It was a select few that would do this and don't blame all of us for their act of violence.
You and your family would always be wecome to fish in Mississippi.
