yeah transducer working
In or out of water? I can't hear good, so I use a tick stick to check it.
ihope its something normal thats alot money to play with
I would also say transducer working, I can hear mine on the rear of the boat a lot of times
How so you like the Ipilot
If it is the transducer, it should go away if you turn off the fish finder.
It does it when the tolling motor is in the water and depth finder is on, but its ticking in the head of the motor and I hope its not translating all the way down to motor head (making noise and spooking fish). Didn't know if anyone else has experienced this. Outside of that it seems that when your in the anchor mode it takes it a while to navigate back on spot, but I was in some high wind and I think its going to work great in calmer waters. Just going to take some time to get used to. Thanks for any input guys.
In regards to the anchor comment. Listen to the motor next time you are in anchor position. You will be able to hear the motor speed ramping up, to try to overcome the wind. It is a bit sluggish, but if it was more agressive, then you would have massive overshoot during calm conditions.
I like the ipilot but find that in adverse conditions, I sometimes need to take manual control to get a quicker response. I don't have a problem with this as the majority of the time it is fine in auto.
The is an echo up the hollow shaft from the transducer. What you hear is short bursts of the sonar frequency (usually 200khz) called the ping.
Ok so the ping (ticking noise) is normal? It kinda gets on the nerves. The depth finder works fine but is there any adjustment to help or is it just the normal? Stymie I just got unit installed and even though the wind was blowing hard I just had to go and try it out. Now I dont fish in hard winds like that but can already see where its going to help with fishing, and the record a track is the bomb for trolling! Thanks for the info
Ha Ha. Just don't be like me and "bomb" the navigation while recording. Unless you want to repeat it. Over and over and over again.
I have an 80lb Terrova with US2 and good hearing... I have never heard it "tick" while deployed. Although I havnt payed much attention, Im sure the slap of water on my aluminum hull drowns it out some, but I still havn't noticed it. I do hear the transducer when its above water though. Spot lock is sluggish at times. Great for open water.... so-so for trying to hold near a tree top or something. I'll never own anything but a Terrova now... I can't hardly use the giant cable steers anymore.
I've never heard mine ticking.
