I have had 2 Garmin's never a speck of trouble & usually got me within 2-3 feet of waypoint every time, Garmin best hand held out there, me thinks buys from estate/Garage sale probably pushing damaged goods
I have an older garmin Etrex, it works great. I just put a new Lowrance HDS8 in the boat and that etrex gets me just as close.
I have a Garmin etrex as well. Works great with no problems.
Garmin GPSmap 76. Gets me to within 3 feet of mark every time and speed is very accurate for slow trolling/spider rigging. Keep an eye out on Ebay and you can usually find them for around $100 shipped.
Get a Garmin in the 70 series, they are made for on the water, said to float, don't know as I have not put it to the test.. I have an old 72 and a 76Cx, use the 76 on map page and the 72 on pointer page.
