Sorry I missed your call last night. I was on I-10 at Beaumont,TX running 78mph and didn't feel like killing myself while talking to the phone.
He was running for his life from the Texans.
My bet is the Texans were trying to stay out of ol mrdux's way! No biggie about the call. LOTS of floating junk in the water!!! Be careful running out there!
Thanks for the heads up.
Water color looks good though.
My best has been a dark green straight tailed body tipped with a minnow or orange body. Only caught two today but tried like h***. Others on this board may have faired better but I haven't seen anything on the banks or shallow. One was twelve inches and one was 14. I haven't caught very many crappies this year but the shortest has been 11 inches....all the others bigger up to 15 1/2 inches....go figure. My shallowest fish has been from 18 feet.
Watch out for that RED bouy in the mouth of Sledd (north) it is underwater. Skunk for me today. Talked to 2 others that usually catch fish 0. Two more fisherman had 2
The lake is falling Ricky. Thats why the fishing was off today.
Well, I'm pretty bummed to hear the fish aren't hittin'. Sucks for us that only have a small window in which to hit the big lake. Oh well guess we will try and make the most of the trip. The invitation stands whiskers. We will be there tomorrow around 9:30am. Let me know if your interested in some good grub and some good b.s. Any ideas with the lake droppin?
good luck to you tomorrow
Thanks Jigshooter. Did you fish Kentucky today?
Bad for you guys, good for me!
Maybe they'll get the level shenanigans out of the way while I'm out of pocket trying to put my 6 year old daughter on a pile of catfish this weekend.
According to the official report, the lake is still slowly rising and won't hit it's peak until tomorrow (SAT) and then will hold steady for the weekend before beginning to fall next week. I think fishing is off mostly because of all the new water still coming in. I went bluegill fishing this afternoon with my two grandsons (from the shore) and we couldn't hardly buy a bite until the wind changes directions late this afternoon and the clouds really closed in. Then, in a matter of 30 minutes we caught a dozen bluegill and three small bass....and missed that many... from the same spot we had been fishing for two hours previous. Fish are having a hard time getting settled into anything....and sadly...just about the time they do, the lake is gonna start falling again. I hope they don't pull the plug and drain the bottom out of it!!!
I don't know what TVA is doing with their info, but at 6 o'clock last night on the TVA website it showed a flow increase of over 5000 cfs & a drop from 362.89 to 362.67 between noon & 5 pm. Yesterday there was a good wet line on the trees and drift rows on the banks, even where they were protected from the wind. Got it wrote down right here in my log. Today that info shows a a drop from 362.89 to 362.71 between noon & 9 pm. When I talked to a buddy of mine at the dam yesterday at around 4:30 & he said it was falling slow. Now it's back up to where it was yesterday at this time. I can't figure those guys out.
I had a real tuff first day back. Caught 2 keepers & 1 throwback, and lost 3 at the boat. Caught several bass in the same range also. Caught more bass in the shallow water though. 3 of the Crappie hookups came in 21 fow & 3 came in 5 fow fishing around what would be the summer pool line. All 3 shallow fish were nice black males.
Couple more days like yesterday & there's gonna be a sale on some really good fish'n equipment. Last 2 winters & my boat schedule have really messed up my fish'n.
I think I need to try a bay with a better defined creek channel. :(
