Do many of you guys longline Ky or Barkley Lake? I haven't done alot of it myself, but am wanting to try it this spring. Just curious how effective it has been for some of you. Sorry, if this is an old topic..did a search but didn't find much information.

I see a lot more spider-riggers than longliners. That said, I have just set my boat up with new Hi-teks so I can spider-rig, longline and pull/push cranks. I'm going to be on a large learning curve myself. I figure lots of the better longliners keep their results to themselves. It will definitely catch crappie on KY and Barkley!

Wev'e tried longlining a couple time's didn't know alot about it. We caught a couple, but but I can see where you could do well with this type of fishing. Both onKY and Barkley.
I made my second trip over the weekend. My first trip was on my own after asking some questions and reading on here and this last trip was with a long experienced longliner.
I had no success last year but I found out that it was more weather related and faulty technique on my end than actual mechanics. We caught some fish doing it this last weekend, which appears to be saying something from what I've been hearing.

I prefer to spider rig, but if the wind gets up too bad, switch over to longlining. Technique will definately work well on Kentucky Lake and I see more people doing it all the time. Really over the next few weeks you'll see everything, spider rigging, side pulling and longlining. As long as you got a hook in the water and the water temps are right, you'll probably be able to catch a few.
I also mostly spider rig, but will go to big sandy once or twice a year to long line. I don't know much about it, but we do catch fish. Question: What water temp do you find that increases success with longlining?

I'd rather spider rig just cause that's what I have the most confidence in...but..
When the wind gets to bad..it's time to either drift longline or TM longline so I don't have to go home....
