I am thinking of stopping by Bass Pro and picking up the Minn Kota 55 PDV2 with i-Pilot on my way to Lake Washington. How hard would it be to swap my Motor Guide out?

Better take a drill and tools with you.
Spend the extra dough for the Terrova.
let me know how that goes cause I'll be doing the same thing in the next couple weeks. From Motor guide to Terrova
Well what I have now is the Motor Guide 46 lb that came on my Lowe 175 which is 17.5 ft long. It has just enough to do the job pulling cranks but you can not take your foot off the pedal at all to tend to your polls. And when you get a big fish on it is a circus trying to get the net and land a fish while stuck at the dang foot pedal. I can get the 55 PDV2 with i-Pilot for $789. The Terrova they have with i-Pilot is $1200.
That's the exact reason I've been pulling with the big motor. You can't take your foot off the TM or it turns sideways on ya as soon as the foot comes off. Same with longlining. I've been wanting to try that and can't do it. That'll be remedied in a week or 2 when I get the Terrova installed
Terrova has ability to use Foot Pedal and remote at the same time. PD doesn't. Terrova has more power setting increments than the PD. Terrova is a larger foot and heavier duty motor that PD. Stowing mechanism and lock is better with Terrova and installation of transducer is cleaner if done properly with Terrova. Get the Terrova if you can swing it. That said...the PDV2 is a good unit.
If you're gonna install on the fly, you'll need drill, selection of bits and hand tools. And don't forget to bring an assortment of stainless washers, bolts and nylocks. Plus your holes aren't gonna line up so you'll need some good sealent to patch existing holes. I'd use 3M 5200. Wouldn't want to get over there and realize you need something and it's a 30 mile drive to get it.
One other thing...heading into a tournament, I'm not sure I'd want to swap out to something brand new. Prolly better to use what you're comfortable and used to until after game day. That said, it's a short learning curve with the Terrova or PD V2 / Ipilot.
Wannabe...
I agree with WB. Hold off installing the Terrova until next week. I have a new 101 sitting at the house. I'm installing it next week because I want to do some hard fishing this week-end and will learn how to work the new one next week.
Get the Terrova, you won't regret it.
BTW Supertech, if ya got a bit, reach out to this fella if you can steer him in the right direction.

Thanks Wannabe. Nobody could ever tell me what the big difference was. The Terrova would be the way to go if I can afford it. But I also need to upgrade the FF to something with SI or at least a mapping system with GPS which I have neither at the moment and I don't see no money growing on the trees in my yard. Who knows, maybe I will have some green in my pocket this weekend and can pick it up on the way home!!!
If you do decide to get one shop around their are several that sell Terrovas quite a bit less than BPS.
Check with Hotspot for a price.....he has some good deals.
What is Hotspot's website?
www.thecrappiehotspot.com Mr Hotspot does not have everything on his website so you may have to give him a call or send him a PM to get a price on what you need.
Thanks G3
I have 3 words for you...Terrova, Terrova, and O yea, TERROVA!
