So, has anyone put out yo yos on the Little Red? I think that around the boat docks with minnows would wear the big trout out at night! Any sauger or walleyes would be just as easy!

don't think that you are alowed to yoyo for trout.. single pole fishing only is my understanding..
but....I bet your right...it would probably work
Most trout waters limit to 1 or 2 handheld poles. Never saw where Trout could not be caught on YoYo's.
well, I will check out the game and fish manual, and see. Of course, I could try it and release immediately any "by catch"
who says they are set for trout? i can set them and they can be for any fish. if a trout gets on one he/she/it should have been taught not to do that. all this talk about yo-yo's had got my interest. i think i'll run over to walmart and get me 4 or 5 dozen and go set them out somewhere. if that's too many for me to set out i'll get my buddies to bring their boats and they can set out their limit of them. who knows, if i have enough buds with boats we could line a bay up with them from one end to the other. how much to these yo-yo's cost?
Man, ya'll should go to the Game and Fish website and try and figure out if yo yo is okay in trout water. I finally gave up! Oldduckhunter you can legally have 30 yo yo and must have id on them. i.e. truck license. They can be unattended at night only. Most people spring them in the morning, and rebait just at dark. You run the string 2-3 times at night. It gets more entertaining the later it gets! Make sure that you make that last run before the pole fishermen get out at dawn. It REALLY pi--es them off if there are dead fish hanging from yo yos!
Old,
$26 a dozen. And they're not the good "Whites" either. Be a lot easier to cut tires in the parking lot.
la, from some of the "heated" posts it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't come to that or worse.
let's see, i'm allowed 30. i bring 5 buds? that's 180 limbs we would have to find to hang'em all. 5 cases of beer for the night a good camp fire to set around between runs? say we stay two nights and catch a limit each both nights at a 30 limit? oh, my head hurts from trying to figure just how many crappie we can bring home. better bring more coolers and ice. sounds like a party.
The hardest I think i have ever laughed was when Blackfish fell out the boat spot light and all about midnight a few winters back while running yo yo's on Cox Cypress Lake. Good Times!!!!!!!!!
Nimrod,
I collect a bunch of them off the river from the weekend guys too. GW told me that since I'm on the rivewr every night and can tell what new or old to take all of them I wanted. He said it makes his river look ugly. The guy @ the bait store in J'ville buys them for 50 cents. I've sold them for a buck or so to several guys on the ArDeer hunting site that I am no longer welcome on.
well, you keep letting that bird crap on your head so i thought i'd try. but really i think they would be too much work so even a dime would be too high for me.
I think you can set a yoyo anywhere its not stated in not doing so.
If you catch a trout on them they have to be released, pole(s) only for trout. If fishing for cats in trouts water which are good flatheads waters too and catch a trout.Throw it back nomatter if its dead or not,I've caught several using liver and cut bait. Its a shame you have to throw them back dead but its the law.Big trout will eat liver, cutbait, stinkbait even small bream.Trotlines, yoyo's in trout waters is not a big sport however a few do.Its the reason I no longer trotline in knowing trout waters, most trout will swallow down to gut.Throwing a nice dead rainbow on the bank was heartbreaking which is a special fish that alot of people will never get to fish for.Several of us trotliners decide to fish else where as to not have to kill a pretty fish to get the hook out of the gut.
what if i have the yo-yo tied onto the end of my pole and catch a trout? i'd be fishing with a pole.
I would like to see the regulation where is says no trout on set hooks? It does list certain Trout waters as pole fishing only? If it is pole only, that means for all fishing not just Trout.

My bad
I should have put somewhere in and about the line of if no trout stamp you cann't keep them.
