WILD Help some kids

My name is Toby Ryder and im the pastor of Duson Baptist Church. Me and one of my leaders have written a program to bring in fatherless boys and girls and through a one year program help them become well rounded young men and women. The year will consist of four quarters
Fishing
Hunting
Vehicle care and maintenance
Carpentry and simple home repair.

They will come in with their mentor one Saturday a month for 3 months for training in each area at the end of the quarter they will apply those skills in an real situations like a fishing rodeo, a guided hunt, driving lessons and a Home care outreach....Where does Crappie. Com fit in.. I have been tying jigs for about two years and Im the leader for the Fishing quarter thats coming in March. I need old vices and materials to teach a tying class, rods and reels for our rodeo, prizes and any donations you could give....They have a fatherless generation of children out there and We cant just stand around and watch it go down the tubes please help us to make this a big sucess.....hopefully this will become a program that leaves a lasting real world impact on the Kids it touches. I was fortunate to have a father that taught me how to fish and hunt, change my oil and fix a leaky sink. All donations can be mailed to Duson Baptist Church P.O. I'll see what I can do. Someone on this forum helped me once with a similar project . I in turn will find some way to help you . When you have the time P.M. me with the types of jigs lures ect. you plan to make and if you intend to pour the lead heads yourself. It would help direct my attention to a specific task.

Thanks guys keepem coming.... we will tye crappie jigs, gill jigs and saltwater jigs... Pond we will not pour heads the age group is 13 to 17 and I'm very weary of hot lead and 15-20 young men and young women.

15-20 possibly up to 30..... We still have students signing up.

And it may change your life knowing that you helped the unfortunate you'll put many smiles on their faces and no schedule remember this for the rest of your life.

hey rev got alot of different size heads coming that way..ball heads for tying....from 1/32-6 to 1/8- size1 sickles and regular hooks

Thanks Pbug .... All you other guys chip in... We need jigs to...they are going to build a homemade tackle box and we would like to put as much stuff in it as possible..... This will be something they can pass down through generations.... Before you tie another jig help us out brothers.

I got an old vise, nothing fancy but its what I started out tying on, and some materials I'll get mailed off to ya.

Wild at Heart ministry is set up to reach out to young men who are fatherless or forgotten. This generation is lost and has been left to fend for itself in a post modern society, where video games, Facebook, and television reign over any outdoor activities. Deep in a boys heart are some fundamental questions that cannot be answered at the kitchen table or behind a computer screen such as “Who am I?”, “What am I truly made of ?”, “What am I destined for?” It is fear that keeps a boy home where things are neat ,orderly, and under his control. The answers of their deepest questions will not be answered at home, but they will be answered when they are being boys, taking risks , being dangerous, hunting and fishing. It is where they learn the basics of Gods plan and how it relates to being a man. It is where they find passion in Gods creation, and realize their smallness compared to HIM. It is where they understand Gods provision and the Enormity of His love for them. We can no longer stand idle as men , and let this generation of boys be consumed by this postmodern world. Wild at Heart’s goal is to teach young boys to become YOUNG GOD CENTERED MEN by teaching them the basics of hunting, fishing, carpentry and simple mechanics. Centering all of these teachings around GODS WORD. It is our belief that God can use these young boys to be world changing Men of Honor and Integrity, but only if we as men can rally around them and give our time and effort. Wild at Heart will place adult Christian men as mentors for the entire program. We will meet once a month on Saturday beginning at 2:00pm for teaching and application of Skills.We will then then invite them to a mens supper at 6:00pm with their mentors. Wild at Heart will sponsor an event every qaurter so that the Young men can use the skills they learned in a real life situation. Some of these events are Fishing Rodeo’s, Hunting trips, outreach activities and countless more.
