Got two myself, never heard any ticking.
hmmmmm a ticking noise eh? Do you have any enemys?
Some high speed transducers make a ticking noise like that. Use to fish out of my dad's war eagle and his back depth finder did that. It was not a HB though. Trying turning off the one that you think is making the noise and see if it stops...
If not call 911 and ask for the bomb squad
Was the front transducer out of the water when you were hearing the noise? Out of the water you can hear the pulsating of the transducer.
i knew some of you geber would i was on drugs or something but it the truth the ping is coming from the transducer and it one hb i move from the front to the rear then it got louder because the front is on the tm and the back is on the boat it not the trans it the unit
has anyone tried to talk to someone at hb about a problem and how did that go
WHAT???????????  :eek:Quote:
i believe the tick means its working lol
Our Lowrance does that. You have to really "listen" for it, but you can hear the ticking and it's always done it and our old HB did that, too. Some of the folks on here are hard of hearing so they prolly don't realize theirs does it, too, Hunter... ;)
I believe HWJ has been in the nip too or he's takin typin 101 from Dd's skool of clerical werks.
The clicking sound is normal. Normally the rate and power switches automatically by the unit depending on the conditions. Add in atmospherics and sometimes you can hear it, sometimes you cant.
Wannabe...
I hear the clicking sound from both my US2 and 898 transducer. The 898 is much quieter than the US2. The US2 is real loud.

Now that you mention it..............I AINT CRAZY............that musta been my Lowrance FF's doing that before I installed this Humminbird.......I really thought I was going to be headed to a straight jacket.......but that the Lord I am finally free.....aint heard no more tickin LOL....
What we have here is a failure to communicate. Each transducer has a signal cone which is how wide your signal is in the depth water you are in. The deeper the water, the wider your signal. If you are in say 20-25 fow, your cones could be bouncing off of each other, therefore making the clicking noise. Next time this happens, change the transducer frequency on one of the units. That should stop it. Bill is in the mail.
By the way, I work at Whitfield and have several rooms available.
I can't hear my 898 tranducer except when I am at home in the garage.... but I hear the US2 all the time. No matter if I have both depthfinders going or just the US2.
