Guys, I'm just getting started painting and tying. My question this time is about painting multi-color jig heads. If I powder paint the head my main color (1st color) do I need to cure it before applying any other color to that jig head or will multiple colors/partial coats cure at the same time as the main color? I hope that I made that clear. Thanks for your replies.
You can do it either way for most colors. Try and see.
Depends on what you are doing kinda. I have found it works better to cure then do more if you are working details like stripes and eyes and such. If oyu want to do a speckled look then do it before curing so the colors can melt together.

How do U paint a multi color jig head with powder paint.When U dip it into the powder it coates the whole head. Can U reheat it with out ruining the first coat?
Multi color heads: did one side then the other then cure, reheating inbetween colors.
Sprinking: Heat head, dip in main color, reheat or not, sprinkle speckle color in then reheat to make sure it sticks and it is the way you want it, then cure. I only do this if I am doing similar colors like red on back or orange on pink. If I am doing a dark or light sprinkle over an oposing color I cure them first then do my sprinkles to give a more speckled look that I can remove easily if it doesn't look good enough to cure it as is.
Eyes and stripes: dip main color then cure, then reheat to add stripes and eyes or whatever you are adding, then cure again. Repeat if needed. Eyes and stripes can be added to a cold jig then reheat the jig to make them stick for curing. this allows for forming and shaping of the powder before it has stuck to the jig.
Always try to keep the paint as light as possible to keep the details from running. Also, some colors will bleed into other colors from what i have been told. I have not seen this personaly, yet.

If you put hot pink on top of green chartreuse the pink will turn orange when you cure it. Don't ask me why. Best to cure your under coat and seal your top coat in that case.
You’re gonna find everybody has a preference to the way they paint. Best bet - if you see something that you like – ask the painter.
These jigs were painted using the axis (no base paint) – starting at 90º then 270º. Then 180º and finish at the top.

Those ultra minnows are gonna swim out of the picture if you don't tie them down. Really nice !!!!!
Those are some very nice looking minner jigheads.
I have a couple of jigs LH painted and the picture does not give them credit ... Gotta take them out in the sunshine to see all the good stuff goin on. Looks good LH.

Yeah JSC – can’t see the holographic glitter or the color changes with the illusion paint…
I forgot to mention that the Mustad BLN hooks, used for the bass jigs, can also be used in saltwater. And all the powder paint, except for the illusion, is custom blended. I used a color chart and Pro-Tec paints to make the olive. Blue sapphire has lots of blue glitter and different blues from CC and Pro-Tec. Black Diamond has a lot of holographic glitter, CC mirror black, and some other stuff. Don’t want to talk about the copperhead (not user friendly). The white is pearl + white + clear with holographic glitter.
Once you start using brushes – hard to go back to fluff & stuff….
