Those of you that use high-vis line, what is your opinion on this?
Do you use it all the way down to the weights and hooks or do you stop it before there and tie on another kind of line?
Thanks for any input....

That is a good ? I am just getting into the trolling thing always been a single jig pole guy.i am going to begin trolling this year as soon as i get boat set up and ready. I know they use it for being able to see lines when pulling cranks thats all i know
NO! I catch as many with hi-vis as with any mono and I tie directly to the jigs. I should mention that I'm a longliner.
it scares right up it live well.
hi vis don't scare them at all, maybe if you were fishing some gin clear water (possibly) but we do not have that problem down here. water the color of chocolate milk is usally our problem.
Not in the water I fish. I wouldn't use it at Greers ferry or Norfork.
Viscious panfish 10lb.
OK. Blueball just made my list. Now you will get blackballed. Get it? Bwah ha a ahaa h aha
I've had issues with the gold braided line that I have on one reel. It is 20/6, a lot more drag, takes longer to get down to deeper levels not to mention I was touching poles last weekend with a native that was using green mono, I had the gold stren, same set up, same depth, everything, except the luck. The line seemed to be the only variable. Water was stained but at 15' not sure that matters. Anyway I changed it out last night on 2 reels for a test run. The braid is great for snatching em out of them tree tops and if it gets hung you can straighten the hook out.
IMO no it does not, but then you'll get into a situation like leakfree every now and then that will leave you wondering. Still, that's what I use - Viscious Hi Vis, although my pre-tied rigs are with 10# Pline CXXX, not because I think it's better, it's just that I keep a roll of it in the house so I can tie them while I watch TV.
Wannabe...
You ever seen hi-vis line in a dark room? It looks just like regular mono. The light passing through the line gives it the bright color. Once it is submerged and out of the sunlight, it is just like clear mono line. I got a 1/4 lb roll of Vicious 6lb test from Monk's like ES.... The 6 lb test has 2350 yards on the 1/4 lb roll. All for $8 plus $6 shipping.. Hard to beat.
It's probably just like fiber optics! I'm going to interogate some fish in the morning and get to the bottom of this. Twist their little fins and stuff till they talk. Lord have mercy!
don't let them lie to ya leakfree
The little basties, acted like they didn't know anything. I gave em the "ice" treatment. We worked over a goo pretty good and sent him back to warn the rest. You mess with ole leaky and it won't be pretty.
Been using it for years and havent noticed ant diff. I use mr. crappie hi vis 10lb.:p
I used 6# Spider wire low vis yesterday and loaded up. Go figure. Did see a couple guys using the yellow stuff, they didn't seem to be as busy as me. :) Just saying
Someone needs to 'splain to Leakfree that .................without pics it didn't happen..... G, you have the picture that 'splains it?
Oh yeah! They are still getting the ice treatment, I was pretty pissed off at them no talking, lieing, sons of biatches. Just as soon as I give em the knife treatment, I'll give you your picture Thomas! I do know how to post a pic!
Thanks, I think!!! :)
Oh Ye! Not the biggest, but it sure was fun. Let's see? How does it go? Threw back about that many. Yeahhh, that's the ticket!
