I have a 2001 bass tracker 175, and was wondering where is the best place to put the transducer on the back of my boat to avoid a rooster tail, and make it read at 35 mph?

What unit do you have?
probally humminbird if hes getting rooster tail
i mounted mine on an alum block and made an alum shield on top:D
yep i have humminbird 565
Did you mount yours that low to try to get a high speed reading?
notice the black tape still on ,that was a tempory fix and works too,use to look like someone was peeing in my boat when i first installed transducerThumbs Up
That's pretty good getting a reading at that speed.
most people dont mount them that low because of their price ,but mine been below pad for atleast a year and havent broke it yet
i have my on my boat now, it is rooster tailing pretty good, and reading good, so i moved it up, and doesn't read at 35mph , so i guess that i need to move it down alittle more
try the black tape if u want an easy fix ,i just wanted something nicer, but the tape works

The way I did mine is on the bottom side of the motor mount there is aluminum deal held on with to bolts I think its for corrosion aint exactly sure. But I used an aluminum angle and bolted it to there and then bolt the TD to the other end. Heres a pic But since this pic I moved it outward 6in. to get away from the step in hull. No drilling boat at all.

That looks good too wilbur, I'm not satisfied with my TD mount.
Here's mine on a 185 Tracker. Reads speeds up to around 42mph with no rooster tail. HB 385c
