Go for it right time and place I'll be there.
I think Ed should sponser a big tournament around the country kinda like FLW. Give away boats and trucks. We can make Wiskers President.Maybe Zebco can be a main sponser.
Dont know wouskers but sounds like a plan to me.
Lots of us guys on the Mississippi board have been having a Crappie.com "fruit jar" series . We start our 2nd season in a couple weeks. Everyone is welcome to participate.
you fishin' WTCC tourney at Reelfoot on feb. 19? weather's lookin good!
how about a online tournament...????? we use to do this on a small catfish site i was a member of. What you do is have a control item in the pic with the fish and you can weight the fish on a digital scale and take a pic of it. Along with the control item...Im sure we could pull it off. have like a 5 fish limit.???? biggest 5 weight wise. and mesure all 5 fish and total it together for like a tie if it happens?
if we could get enough together to try it...Let me talk to slab....
dont know where everyone is from, but i got a place on weiss lake would like to invite youall.name the date im sure i could help get it going

I fixed the link for ya feelay
Well, that's not working. Go to the Mississippi off topic forum, there are stickies at the top with schedule of tournaments and rules.
"Fruitjar" is slang for a small tournament where people get together and put a little money in a pot (fruit jar).
Sounds like a good idea but remember all lakes are not created equal or should i say all lakes in mississippi, that whole state is full of downright monsters.
I'm good with that!

I am definitely up for an online tournament, and possible an actual get together tournament, depending on the when and where. I will also be happy to put up a couple drawings for prizes either way it is done.
I also belong to a fishing board at Pa Fishing Friends Forums Last year the owner of the board had a online tourney from April 1st thru June 30th. The fish went strictly by lenght, and not weight. You had to copy a form at the site to use in pic, plus pics to be used, had to have the date in them, that cameras have on them. The picture had to be of it being officially measured. The system worked well. The problem with doing weights is that, in the south, usually crappies weigh more than their northern cousins of the same lenght. Just something to think about.
Pbug called me an we spoke about doing an online tournament. Sounds like a plan. I will create a new board just for this topic, and I'll even move or copy this thread there.
The Fruit Jar type gathers is also a great idea, and many of them have occurred in many states over the years. I have attended some, and brought some giveaways and such. Had great times. Here's a link to one I just attended in KY, the one Whiskers set up.
KY Get Together at Big Bear | Articles 2010
I have never arranged one myself, but I plan on attending more this next Spring, and I can see how they go. Anyone anywhere is welcome to arrange a gathering and announce it on the site. That's what Crappie.com is supposed to be about, gathering (online or in person), sharing information, and having fun.
My intention so far is to attend the Gathering at Lake Blackshear in GA on the 26th of March.
And to attend the Fruit Jar at Grenada on the 23rd of April.
I'll likely swing by the Pickwick event on April 2nd as well.
Lets have a great 2011.
Wow Slab! Sounds like youre gonna be doing some traveling.;):)

Virtual Crappie Fishing Tournament
And Gabowman, yes, I will be around. I need to meet you guys in person, shake your hands, wet a line. It'll be fun.
I'm all for more tournaments. But if anyone is interested in our little fruit jars, we moved the first tournament on Ross Barnett to 2/19/11 due to poor weather. Everybody is welcome and there's no membership dues or minimum tournaments. You're welcome to fish all of 'em or just one and kids/wives are welcome and encouraged. Entry is $40 + an option al $10 big fish pot and we pay 1 place for every 5 boats. 100% payback, but we hold $5 from each entry back to fund the championship pot, which is winner take all. Basically, it's an excuse to get together and if ya get lucky, you might get some gas money back. But we do have some awful good sticks that fish with us.......um....not me, but some. :)
We're fishing Ross Barnet, Washingon, Arkabutla, Grenada, Enid and Sardis this year. Ya'll come on and if you're any good, PM me and I'll make plans to follow you around. :)

2-19-11 Barnett.......Cock of the Walk
3-5-11 Washington.........Southern Star
4-23-11 Grenada...........Grenada Landing
5-14-11 Butla.............Hernando Point
6-11-11 Enid............George P. Cossar State Park
7-16-11 Sardis............Beach Point
Barnett is gonna be tough with the weather we've been having but I tell ya. Washington and Grenada are next and you talk about some of the biggest, strongest fish there are. If I was a betting man and IF the weather is good, you'll have to have over 14 pounds to win either of those 2 tourneys. Slab, you'll be in for a treat when you come down if the weather cooperates. Lots of big fish, awesome food and a sho nuff good time. Last year the Magnolia Crappie club fished it about this same time and the winning weight on 7 fish was OVER 19 POUNDS. We'd love to have some of you guys come down and fish it with us
Scary thing is Wb ain;t telling a fib. He sits on at the boat ramp for about 45 minutes and watches folks with his binocs to see who's catching what, then goes to where they are
crappie dot com tournament, lets see, all the clubs that have tournaments on here, take the winner of each championship from each years tournament schedule, and have all them fish a one pole one day tournament, that way everyone will be represented and we will who is the best crappie fisherman for at least one day. what do you win heck i dont know but I'll start the pool off with a 50 dollar donation if I dont have to fish any tournaments.
Just send me $25 and we'll call it even Beagle. Deal?

Sounds good to me slab. If you travel through west tn let me know i would like to meet you and shake your hand. I have been on crappie.com for 2-3 months and i really enjoy this. It is a great place to learn and share info about fishing. Just want to say thanks for all your work..P.S. I ordered some slab sauce and liquid minnow friday the 4th. I have not recived it yet but i am chomping at the bit to try this out.
How about this..each state picks 4 lakes,4 teams per lake.truman/ozarks/marktwain/stockton/winner will have some friendly braggin rights, mississippi lake are not allowed...just kidden....it would be fun havn 4 to 16 teams workin together....
Good idea1 Will take some time to work out the details; the point was brought up as far as the Southern bias (southern crappies just tend to grow bigger faster, will need somekind of `equalizer` formula; the idea of using a dated local news paper should work; my camera does`nt have the date/ time feature...
Lowell, you could write the date on the item, you have to print off, if they leave a place for it. I forgot we did that for those who didn't have camera's with dates on them.
Each state has a state record Crappie. We can use your respective state record as the basis for comparison. Compare your fish to teh state record, Highest percentage wins. If we use 5 fish, then add up the percentages and divide by 5, giving you your average lentgh in relationship to the state record. Again, highest percentage wins. This equalizes all teh fish to a standard and makes the comparision work regardless of state.
this sounds fun, but what about these big az slabs coming out of Roosevelt right now
I'm in like Flynn ....
Well from what i have been seeing there are some big az slabs coming from all over. I dont have a pic but the other day a guy caught a 19.5 crappie from reelfoot lake. That sumbuck was a monster. it honestly looked like it had shoulders on both sides. Dont know what it weighed but it would of been up there. There is a lake in northern mississippi that has some monsters coming out of it to, Those fish you are holding are some good lookin fish.
