anyone using BallHead Ball Collar in 1/4 ounce......
I would if I had them available!
Just sold the mold for those, might have been 1/16. I have a couple and will tie them soon, came from one of Dads old molds. I'm told that the ball holds the bucktail and flairs it just a bit.
hey smooth the ones he is talking about are 1/4 ball head ball collar heavy hook...Eagle claw 635 salt water tin coated hooks.
I want to see some ties on these heads.... Very interested...I've never tied on these and I hate tying on collared jigs...but I'm becoming interested in the flair factor... Jason is trying to sell me on them but I'm weary of his sly underhanded ways... Lollollollol..... Just joking Pbug. You tha man... Guys they are what Pbug is describing ball head ball collar 1/4
Skeet you and Jason must be buddy's .... I'm watching y'all.
lol..Hey gonna pour 1 of them heads and take a pic of it and send it to you. And maybe talk you into letting me tie one up and take a picture and send it to you also..
Yeah I meant if you tie bucktail on just the hook shank it'll spin around it...you should use ball collared jigheads for tying hair IMO!
when i tie bucktail on bare hooks im not getting any spin......when tieing salty's i dab glue after every layer.
tie one up p..

come on Jason where is the after pic........
OK, for those of you that are hard to convince, I did a little demo. 1st pic is a couple of heads that I cast in a mold that was my dads and I no longer own. I believe it was a Palmer brand but I'm not sure. 2nd pic is 2 jigs tied on different heads. The blue one is on a ball collar and the second is a straight collar. You can see the difference. The blue one will be under the razor by the time you read this, just wanted to show y'all the difference. In theory, you could make somewhat of a ball by piling up the thread on the bottom of a straight collar and seal it with sally, let it harden, and tie the hair on after for the flair effect. That's a message from the cheap seats.
Jason's slow. HEHE
cant rush perfection my brothers!!!!!! and you know this gota let the pearl white paint dry add the eyes and stuff it will happen...lol
Jason you must sell those special jigs for big money...it takes you a week to tie one.
Skeet that flair is what i dont like.....but im having an idea that if you tie in maybe a zonker or some other materials down the shank past the ball and then tie in maybe a zonker collar or tinsel collar it would make a nice full jig.... Jason is going to mail me some hopefully this week and i will see what i can do.....Skeet check out the shank on that salty hook...lot of room for materials.
I saw that. I didn't know that he was making one to show, I saw the post and started - didn't take but just a few minutes. Just remember that you'll be dealing with strong fish with tough jaws, so don't overfill it and cover the gap for the point, and use lots of sally as you go to keep it all tied together. I used to throw bucktails for blues and their teeth gave those jigs a short life span. They were tied to make money, not to last.
Good looking jighead Pbug...what sizes can you do? Might have to put in an order.
Also the flared hair isn't too big of a deal as when the jig's moving it's pulled down flat anyway. Does help sell them though.
