Update on Fruitjar boats

Got a phone call and made one. As of right now, we'll have 10 boats in it. Getting better by the minute

If Bernard would grow some, we would have 11.

Rez Troller is coming as well. He fishes the MCC so that's a couple from the MCC besides me, Torch and sat. That Got Fish thing really messed things up. Hugh, just out of curiouslty, what would have happened had the Got fish thing been NEXT weekend. WOuld we have changed the date on our tourney?

Don when we meet to set the schedule in August we have a pre-printed form with all 52 weekends listed. The form has all the weekends highlighted that aren't available. For instance we have all major holidays blocked off, the wildlife extravaganza, and got fish. The extravaganza and got fish are the same weekends every year. If the club has a community service project set we block that off as well. Then we start penciling lakes into the open slots.

Kewl, that's kinda what I did. I got out a calender and marked the HECK NO dates. MCC touirneys, things like that. I didn't know if you guys knew the dates on the got fish before hand or not

It’s not an easy task setting dates for tournaments especially a year in advance. When you really break it down there are just so many free weekends a year. I hate that some of you guys are getting upset over the lack of MCC participation in the CDC tournament. I believe there would be more participation this weekend if we weren't already committed to a club function. I for one would love to come out there Saturday and take ya'lls $$$$!!!! LOL

For all the back and forth about MCC vs FJ. One is not meant to replace the other. I originally intended the FJs to be a low pressure way to compete and to meet folks and fish new water and maybe learn a little along the way. It is not meant to be a "club" with dues, time obligations and an over arching reason for existence. It is not my intention to compete against MCC or any other club and while I'd love the FJs to field 100 boats at every T, I don't want that to detract from MCC or any other club that might come along. There may be a time when there will be direct scheduling conflict for one reason or another, but as long as I have influence, I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen. Having said that, it looks like we've put ourselves in direct conflict with Minner's 2 clubs over in Columbus and AL. I hate that, cause I really wanted the chance to take more than just a free lunch from him this year. However, given the geographies, we're not likely to draw any boats from his T's and vice versa.

Now, with that said, the same reason I didn't want to fish the MCCs before the FJs came into being are still valid - Too much $, too much travel, too much time. Maybe at some point later in life, I'll sign on, but for now, I'm sticking with the FJs. I suspect, that those FJs where we draw non C.C people in numbers, are the ones more like me - not enough time/$ for the committment to MCC.

Hurt feelings and brewhaha aside, this is where I stand on it and I think it's a reasonable approach. And if ya don't like it, take it up with Sat. He's very understanding and has a gentle nature about him. LOL.

I only had the chance to fish 3 FJs last year because of work, this year I'm glad to have the opportunity to fish the FJ's and MCC. I enjoy both groups of folks and the cookouts and social gatherings of both.
