I am tying some Crawfish and shrimp looking jigs. i would like to see what U guys are doing with those patterns. I am disabled and can't do very much that is too labor intensive. I love to tie jigs, fish, hunt, and gun bluing and repairs. I love to refurbish old guns for wall hangers.

i think for shrimp and crawfish the eyes seem to be the most important part.
How do U make the eyes, or do U buy them? I have been making some out of heavy mono line by melting the ends to for the little black eyes.

That should get you going. Some are not tied on jig heads but can be. I like tying them if you couldn't tell but I over complicate them.

Just complicated the way I do them. Replace the lace with brown chinille or just wrap the lace instead of crochetting it and they are extremely easy.

I have found that what really matters is color matchng more than the way they are tied. I fish a lot of steelhead and finding the rightcolor that looks like sand shrimp in a really simply marabou chenille pattern works just as well as anything more elaborate. Crawdad patterns that match the size and color of what the fish are feeding on will work just as good as something with feelers, eyes and claws. Make them think it is a shrimp or craw and they will likely hit it even if it doesn't look perfect.

Zonker strips and hackle make great quick claws. Dubbing works well for the body for a hairy almost leggy look. Eyes have nee covered, I use 50 ot 75# mono when I used put them on. Experimentation with different materials will give you a good look and then you just have to find out what the fish want.
Larva lace is great, Body stuff is just as good for thicker bodies. Works really well for leg material and can make decent eyes if done right. Vernille will give you the same segmented look. Scrap leather is handy for carapass and underside. Craft foam will give it a more buoyant look ande can slow the fall of a light weight jig.
All i can say is all of yall do some awesome work on jigs. I wish i could do that. I dont have the patience or the money to purchase all the stuff i neek. Great job to all of u.
