I make a simple coleslaw.. Just grate a head of cabbage ,add mayonaise ,hot pepper vinegar, salt and pepper to taste....... You can add carrots or onions to your likin ......................Just don't forget the salt.................If you like a sweeter coleslaw add a little sugar.................:)
The old cole slaw from KFC is awfully tough to beat for me. When I smoke a pork shoulder, I'll go up there just to buy some slaw from em!
KFC slaw is hard to beat. Thats where I get mine.
Mine:
Run 1/2 head of firm cabbage through the grater on your food processor or a hand grater. Add 2 grated carrots.
Mix about (I don't measure) a cup of Hellman's mayo with a tablespoon yellow mustard, enough milk to just barely make it pourable and a tablespoon of celery seed. Add salt and sugar to taste. Pour over the vegetables and refigerate for an hour before serving. Even better next day.
Cheater:
Toss one bag of Dole classic slaw mix with a half jar of Marzetti old fashioned slaw dressing. Refrigerate and serve.

Nomad, take a bag of slaw mix (as roberta says) 1/3 cup sugar, 1 8oz jar Miracle Whip salad dressing. Mix the sugar and salad dressing and pour over the cabbage, mix it up and your done. Tastes better if ya let it sit in the fridge for an hour...izzy

Use the receipe off the Hellman's mayonaise jar. Makes great slaw. You can adjust the lemon and sugar to taste, but start with what is on the jar. Pop
I did a quick web search and here you go on the KFC recipe. Ron
I worked for KFC for many years and I made cole slaw several times a week. This recipe was invented by Sanders himself. We made 25 pounds at a time and the recipe was equal amounts of Miracle Whip and sugar and 1/4 the amount of oil and vinegar. But here it is in a table serving amount
1 head of cabbage, shredded
1 or two carrots
1/4 onion
(or I just buy a bag of shredded cabbage already to go)
Sauce:
1 cup Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
1 cup sugar (yep, I cup)
1/4 cup oil
1/4 vinegar
Mix together and pour over cabbage mix. Let it sit for a few hours before eating and I guarantee it is the exact same as KFC.
All I can say is Marzetti Slaw dressing. Just shred your cabbage and other vegtables and mix it in. Try it with just shredded broccoli. HMM HMM

Thanks, I am glad you found this... Will try on Sunday..Quote:

Add about 1/4 cup of mircle whip, 1/4 teaspoon of salt & 1/4teaspoon of pepper. Add about 3 tablespoon to 1/4 cup of sugar, I use Splenda, add about 1/4 cup of milk, mix altogether and put in icebox until ready to use, the longer it stay in the icebox the better it get. If it gets to soggy drain in a colander put a paper towel in the bottom of the colander first. Remember that cabbage will produce water it self, if the slaw is not creamie enough for you add 1 teaspoon of mircle whip at a time to get the slaw the way you like it. If you like celery seed you could also add a little also, but KFC doesn't use celery seeds in there slaw.

Would that be a 1/4 cup of vinegar? This sounds like a great coleslaw....Thanks
