Is a number six to small to use on a 32oz or is that fairly common for those that tie jigs?

Is a number six to small to use on a 32oz or is that fairly common for those that tie jigs?
thats all i use. And pour alot of them with size 6..also i make alot of size 8 for the guys here in WV for trout.
As Bug said NOPE, that's one of the great things about pouring your own you can switch hook sizes and come up with what really works for you. Enjoy!!!!
You need to consider what brand of hook you use. A #6 Eagle Claw 579 jig hook and a #6 sickle hook will not have the same gap. Small hooks can catch some big fish. Seems like they don't hang up as much either.
I've made lots of 32oz and I only use a number 6 for em. Works good for me. I bend the hook out a little bit before I fish it and I've cought lots of fish like that.
i even pour 1/32 size 4
It really depends on two things . one will it fit the mold ,no. 6 fits 1/32 fine. Two what type of pattern you are going to use because if the pattern has a lot of bulk you might need a larger hook for point exposure. Using a lot of materials can get packed on the strike and reduce hook penetration.
I have some 1/32nd molds that will take a #10. M y main pours are roundhead 1/32nd #8.
I used to use alot of 1/32 jigs with #10 hooks. I liked them alot for bluegill. Only problem i ever had was with skin hooking larger fish like bass and catfish.
i also just finished pouring 1000 size 1/24-6 sickles...Size 6 is a very versatile hooks
Sometimes crappie seem to prefer the smaller baits. A #6 sickle still has plenty of bite. I haven't used a 1/24 oz. yet but I hear it is great for trolling and using w/float or when you need a slower fall.
I pour two different custom 1/24th chub with a VMC 9147 #6 and the Matzuo sickle (perfer the BC)#6. I also have the Do-it, had it pinned for recessed eyes. You cand trim off the barb on the 1/16th and the jig weighs ~1/24th - changes the balance a little - like a fish cares.... Theses jigs make awesome bellyspinners.

Got some killer bluegill lead heads; 1/100th & 1/80th roundhead using Crazy Anglers custom #12 Matzuo sickle and I pour a custom 1/64th chub (recessed 3 mm eyes) with the same hook - gimme a hollar if you want to try some.
Ledhead, can you post a picture so I can see what the 1/24 oz. looks like with the bellyspinner?
any custom molds of crazy anglers are top notch....Have 5 myself
Top left jig and bottom right jigs are Do-it 1/16th trimmed to ~ 1/24th using VMC #6 hooks – the other two jigs are custom chub 1/32nd, Matzuo and VMC #6 hooks

OOooops - 1st pic the jig in the top right is a custom chin spin chub - mold from CAT. The custom chub on the top left was poured using a mold made here in SoCal.
LedHead, thanks for the pics. I've never made any jigs with spinners yet but it looks like something I would like to give a try. Definitely looks like it will catch fish.
My molds take #6 on 1/32, and I have very good success with it's performance. As Pbug said, some folks like the bigger hooks for different reasons, but for the way I fish these do fine in 1/32 and 1/16.
