Not looking good

I'm allready tired of this weather and its not even officially winter yet! I don't mind cold so much as long as it gets just cold enough that my fishin holes don't freeze. Theres alot of places froze allready including some pretty salty water that don't ussually freeze. I liked those winters we were having a few years ago it was great for winter fishing and work. Not to bad right now with all the Christmas stuff goin on but after that if it stays like this I'll go nuts. Might build some new trot lines for next year during the winter.Maybe some of our ponds will get hard enough to ice fish, I'll have to find an auger.

If it gets thick enough I might have to take a ride. I have an ice auger.

After deer season ends I will also be in the cabin fever mode. Let me know if I would be able to tag along an ice fishing excursion. I sold my ice auger and all tip ups a few years ago due to lack of use. I think I have a couple jigging poles and some tackle.

they are already on the ice here at deep creek lake i haven't made it up yet hoping to here before to long they are saying about 6-7 inches in the coves .
but like i say that is what they are saying haven't been there to tell ya forsure .

md steve, i dont know if they would want you and me going, between me being a fat ass and you so tall tear-em up might want to steer clear of us, could be fatal??? got to check still might have some open water on the rivers around here and hoping for a warm up its no fun working outside, guess im showing my age. you have a great holiday season too!

Looks like a slight warming trend ahead. I have been bridge fishing but only caught small ones.

ice report on deepcreek lake is 8-10 inches in most coves above glendale bridge and lake is covered but with some soft areas and small open water between 219 and glendale bridges .
just what i've been hearing was gonna go today but thisdang wind is howling here maybe tomm.

That wind will be around tomorrow. Looks like maybe Sunday I will try to make the trip. That depends on the Christmas events we have planned. I’m usually on the road at 2:00am. I love fishing there but hate the long drive.

well i made up my mind and will be on the ice tomm. morning gotta go gotta go have 1 lb of minnows and 150 maggots for some tipups and jiggin which ever works it's on lol wish me luck and i will report whats happaning . just hope the wind lays down a lil as it says on accu weather.

Good luck Scott go gettum hope ya have a good report for us. I'd like to get out there again, I bet its awesome looking out there now with the snowy mountains at the edge of the lake. Would like to take a winter trip out there take the family snow tubing at wisp ski place and maybe check out the ice fishing while there. Its a haul from way down here on the coast though.

didn't get on the ice till 8 am i wanted to amke sure things were safe and i like to see what i'm doing lol.
we drilled some holes and got the tipups set about 830-9.
ice was 8-9 inches thick good hard ice .
fished 20 ft of water adn caught a couple perch nothing huge and 2 non legal walleye and pickrel and 1 northern .
had a wonderful day other than fighting a lil bit of flu or something of the sort so we left at 130 and i'm glad we did i feel rough .
but am thinking of going either sunday or mon again . but to differant lace . we were at paridise point .

i mostly just use tipups and might jig onece in awhile but mostly tipups..

it might be me but it seems that jigging is for solitary peoplep that like to hide in then lil shanteys lol.
but on the windy days they be nice anywhere.

I mostly jig. I don't have a shelter so I just rough it. I do have 5 tip ups but looking to build some tip downs. They are more sensitive and the fish don't drop the bait as much. I'll have to smooth things over with the wife before I go.

i was just joshing about the jiggers to each their own i say. it's all fun and thats what it's all about .

like i said just let me know i might just have to try jiggin instead of the tipups.

Looking at the weather I might push the trip back a day. I have off work the rest of the week.

Still not looking good here , snowing hard and calling for 8"to 12" on the lower shore with 35 kt. winds.

same here tear em up and tomm it is c alling for 48 mph wind gusts . not for me thats to blowy.
but wen is suppose to be nice and like 6 mph winds and 30 degrees .
guess you could say i'm a fair weather fisherman .
but then again i have that choice.
in the spring and summer i'll fish through rain and what ever but not in the winter ( go figure lol)

and they said 4-8 inches of snow here till monday at 7pm but with the wind blowing it's hard to tell where it will end up.

as of right now we have gotton about 2.5 inches of snow here in garrett county and it's still comin and blowing .

what happend to sunday and monday? just finished 28 hrs of work w about 4 hours sleep, makes days disapear?? 50 degrees later in the week maybe soften the water up? last year on dec 27th tear em up and i caught 126 crappie in one afternoon, little different this year, sometimes ya get the bear, sometimes????

man gduck i sure would like to come down that way sometime and hit the water with you guys i have never caught that many crappie in 3 days let alone 1.

Not a problem getting me mixed up. I am not extremely tall, 6 foot. I can stand to lose some weight too. It looks to me to be setting up for a long cold winter. I need to start making some outdoor plans soon for mid Jan thru March otherwise I'll go cabin crazy.
