They have gotten the 4 lane finished through Land Between the Lakes. But haven't heard if they have started the bridge work yet.
I think the Paducah Sun said the bridges are still in the design and engineering phase.....
if the deal goes anything like the one here in Louisville they won't start on the bridges for about 30 or 40 years!!
They haven't done anything to start them yet. They just did a shoddy resurface job on the existing bridge over KY Lake back in the fall to try and get it to last until they finish the new ones.
I was just through there last weekend and they're still working on the 4 lane, too.
Not sure why they went to the effort and expense of building a dedicated bike path beside it since the bike riders seem to be perfectly content to ride down the new 4 lane.
Probably because we'd really rather NOT ride on the 4-lane.:D
The Ky. Lake bridge will be the last of the 3. When they finish the Ledbetter bridge they are gonna moce to Canton then to the Egners Ferry Bridge. They are probably gonna start working on the piers at Canton next year.
wiskers
you are really going to miss that egners ferry bridge aint ya. the way things are going you will be retired by
the time the new one is done.
I vote we let wiskers push the plunger when they blow up BOTH bridges. BTW, with KY having TWO GOP senators, I figure DC will find tons of things more important than new bridges in KY.
I will be glad to see all 3 go! I'll guarantee you a towboater didn't have any input on any 1 of those bridges! Way too small!
I think they put magnifying glass in the back windows of our towboats cause those spans sure look bigger out the back windows than they do out the front! I've had some CLOSE  calls at Egners!!! I am on a waiting list for a PUCKER STRING transplant right now! :D
You must be the minority. I haven't seen a bike rider use it yet, even though it is open. All of them have been riding down the road.
Too much of it to not be a navigation hazard, I would think. I just hope they put something in the pilings to tie off to. The last rendering that I saw didn't look like there was much of a way to tie off.
Never had any problem crossing these bridges~Well maybe a close call now and then~~~
I was told the faster you go the skinner you become!
I live in Murray, KY and I hunt a lot over in LBL, I think most of the road work on Highway 68/80 is done. As far as I know they have not started yet on the new bridges.
Ledbetter bridge?
