Passin' thru Arkansas

I live in Indy and will be goin' to Dallas to see my grandbabies for Xmas. I'm thinkin' real hard about stoppin' in ARK and go on my very first paid guide trip. I would love to show up in Big D with a mess to fry up! I have been checkin' out Action Fishing Trips website which is obviously a damn good outfit and pretty much right on the way.
My 2 questions for you Razorbacks are:

1- Should I just go ahead and book with Jerry, or should I shop around and try to save a couple bucks? You get what you pay for and I don't want regret that I picked the wrong guide just to pinch a penny.

2-I know fishin' and the weather is unpredictable, but do I stand a chance of gettin' a limit during the week of Dec. 20th?

Jerry is the best. But you better get on it. He only has 5 days open before Christmas.

Book with Jerry if you still can. You can't go wrong there!

Shop if you want. I have fished with Jerry a couple of times....visited with him several times on email and phone. He is a class act....knows his fishing and will provide you a wonderful trip. My girfriend and son have both enjoyed him as well. There might be others as good...but I can't imagine others that are better.....our last trip with 3 in the boat resulted in over a 100 fish caught....weather was bad and he found the fish and we caught them....cleaned about 50.......

I never have fished with him, but I've heard TONS of good things about both him and his operation. I hope you enjoy your time in the Natural State and come again when you can stay longer!

If you want some fish go with Jerry---He will pretty put you on the fish if they are biting and than you can have that fish fry in Dallas.

The drive from Indy to Lake Greeson should be about 10 -11 hrs. That's not bad. Sure hope the weather is descent on the 19th. Will have all my cold weather huntin' clothes with me, hope I only have to use half of them.:) Gonna use Jerry's tackle so I can learn different stuff.

Feel a little guilty. I'm almost more excited about fishin' then seein' my grandbabies.:o

Don't feel guilty, it's a different kind of love. I don't know the route you will be taking but if you do get on I-40 and pass over Lake Dardanelle and you see a 16' Alumacraft with a forty yammaha, wave at me. Hope you have 100% good luck and welcome to Arkansas

Them kids will like to eat your catch. Let us know how you do. Jerry and his team have developed Greeson into a fine fishery. Even I can go on my own and catch fish.

rtark, I will be takin' I30 out of Little Rock then SR8 out of Arkadelphia over to the Greeson area. Don't think I'll be able to see your rig from there.;)

drpepper, I will report for sure. Might not be till I get back. Not sure about computer hook up at my daughter's house. Hopefully Jerry will have a picture of me holdin' up the stringer full-o-fish on his web site.

Grandbabies are just 1 and 2 years old so they probably won't care too much. But the grown ups will be into the fish fry for sure. With only a 20 crappie limit it's gonna be a small fry.

Nice catch guys. Looks like it turned out to be a nice day after all. Arms musta been tires, with just the two of you yanking them up.

That was the forcast, glad for you it did not mess up your trip. Good looking mess. Was that striper caught on one of the crappie poles?

Thanks again Jerry. I had a real blast. Worth every dime! Just talkin' about "fishology" was a big deal for me. And the catchin' was real fun also!! You gotta be damn proud of Owen, he is one heck of a deck hand.

The fry went very well. My oil got too hot and one or two batches got a little burnt. Everyone said is was fine but they were just being polite. I broke in my grandbabies on eatin' crappie. They ate a bunch! I left the stripper with my son in law, he's a pretty good cook and wants to try the "boil".

Fishbasket - Yes the weather was good. The rod tips were freezin' up when we first started in the mornin' but once the sun got up a little bit no probs. When Jerry hammered down that bad*** 200 horse, you had to make sure you were zipped up good! We were at one of Jerry's spots and all a once his crappie pole with a jig and 6lb line bent over and strarted singin', he turned around, handed the pole to me and said, "reel this stripper in"! It wasn't a big fighter just keep tryin' to go deep and get away, but we wore him out and got him in the net:)

Slab - Jerry set me up with 2 poles, he had 1 and Owen had 2 goin' most of the time.

Looks like ya'll had a great trip.

Tell the son in law to cut the red stripe off that big fish, cut it into 4-5" chunks, rub with olive oil, season with Tony and pan sear it in just a little olive oil. If he dont like that, his liker is broke.
